She’s Talking About The Time Another Makeup Artist Was Super Rude To Her And A Bride At A Wedding

Everyone wants to have a wedding that is as drama free as possible. But with high-stress energy and a lot of different personalities in one place, this can be difficult to achieve.

TikTok user and makeup artist Kendra Matthies (@kendra_matthies) reenacts a situation she had at a wedding she worked at, where another makeup artist there was super rude to both her and the bride!

When Kendra arrived at the wedding venue, where everyone was getting ready, she encountered another makeup artist already working on some of the bridesmaids. As Kendra tried to introduce herself, the makeup artist was immediately unfriendly to her and gave her an attitude.

“I see, you were the one that she just had to have, huh?” the makeup artist asked Kendra.

Kendra was taken aback by this odd welcome but continued to be kind throughout the day. The other makeup artist explained to Kendra that she would be doing everyone else’s makeup that day and that Kendra would need to ask the bride any other questions. She even claimed a spot as her own, hinting that Kendra would need to find another area to work in.

Once the bride came out, she was nice to Kendra and was super excited to get her makeup done by her. She explained that she would have to quickly check on one thing before they got started. She went over to where the bridesmaids were to let them know what the plan would be when she received an odd remark from the other makeup artist.

“Oh, did you change your mind? Do you want me to do your makeup instead? I will totally have time if you want to jump in after this girl,” the makeup artist asked the bride.

Confused by this, the bride confirmed that she would be getting her makeup done by Kendra. The other makeup artist made another remark, reminding the bride that she would only be her for a certain amount of time if she decided she would need anything fixed. Still confused, the bride commented that everything should be just fine with the makeup artist that she had booked for herself.

After Kendra finished the bride’s makeup, she handed her a mirror and asked her what she thought. She really loved it! The only thing she wanted to add was a bit more of a glossy lip, which was no problem to do because Kendra had the perfect lip gloss handy. However, the other makeup artist took this as an opportunity to try to bash Kendra and her skills.

“It was pretty obvious that that look could have used a glossy lip, but I mean, I guess we all have different eyes, especially when we’re just starting out,” the makeup artist said condescendingly.

Kendra explained that the bride actually had a matte lip at her bridal trial, but the small change was no big deal and could be easily accomplished.

Also, Kendra had been doing makeup for four years already, so she didn’t really consider herself a newbie. After the gloss was applied, Kendra asked the bride how she liked the finished look.

The bride said it was perfect! But before she knew it, she had the other makeup artist whispering in her ear, asking her if she wanted her to fix her look.

The bride was really confused at this point and asked what she meant. The makeup artist explained that it was obvious that she needed more blush, more definition, etc.

The bride was baffled at her behavior! She explained that she wanted a simple makeup look with some smoked-out liner, which was exactly what Kendra achieved. The makeup artist showed how defined and contoured her makeup was and implied that that was the look she should have too.

The bride had to then explain herself further, stating that as a person who doesn’t wear a lot of makeup that often, this clean and soft look was exactly what she wanted. She wanted to step it up from her normal look but didn’t want her makeup to be so dramatic that her husband wouldn’t even recognize her when she walked down the aisle!

She asked her bridesmaids what they thought of her look for some backup support, and the makeup artist was going to hate to hear what they had to say.

The bridesmaids were such a fan of the bride’s makeup looks that they asked if they could have their eyeliner toned down to be similar to how her makeup turned out! The makeup artist was shocked, asking them if they really wanted their look to be as natural as the bride’s was.

“Yeah, this is natural, but you got to remember, like, we don’t wear makeup very often,” the bride explained. “To us, maybe it’s a little bit more than what you think it is.”

The bridesmaids agreed and asked again if they could have something a little less bold than what the makeup artist had originally done. Instead of being accommodating to her client’s wishes, the makeup artist continued to have an attitude and commented that perhaps Kendra should have just done everyone’s makeup in the first place.

At this point, they were running low on time, so Kendra offered to help the makeup artist edit the bridesmaid’s looks. However, she was just met with more attitude and refusal of any of her assistance. Luckily, the bride was kind to her the entire time and thanked her again for her awesome work before she headed out.

When Kendra got home, she saw a DM from the other makeup artist, calling Kendra disrespectful and overbearing, and said she hoped to never run into her at another wedding ever again. Kendra shrugged off the rude message and blocked her!
