Her Soon-To-Be Sister-In-Law Decided To Throw A Birthday Party On The Same Day As Her Bridal Shower, But Her Fiancé Still Wants Them To Go

This 26-year-old woman and her fiancé have been together for three years, and in August, they will finally be tying the knot.

But, ever since she started dating her fiancé, she claimed that his brother and sister-in-law have never liked her. In fact, they have actually verbally assaulted her and caused countless problems in her relationship.

Throughout all of this, though, she has remained optimistic– attempting to ignore the sister-in-law’s bullying and antagonizing to try and stay focused on her fiancé and building a relationship with his family.

Still, her fiancé’s sister-in-law has made that increasingly difficult for her.

Before they even got engaged, for instance, her sister-in-law told her that she wasn’t family since she was not engaged or married. Instead, the sister-in-law claimed to be “the wife.”

Then, whenever she was in the presence of her fiancé’s brother or sister-in-law, neither of them would even speak to her.

And anytime her sister-in-law did say anything to her, it was always condescending.

“I’ve tried many times to make the relationship better, but my fiancé’s sister-in-law is very narcissistic and manipulative and has his whole family fooled,” she explained.

Regardless, her fiancé has continued urging her to just keep trying in hopes that maybe, one day, things would get better.

That simply has not happened, though. And all the while, she has always wanted to have a close relationship with her soon-to-be in-laws.

But, the tension between her and her fiancé’s sister-in-law made forging that connection nearly impossible.

“I have been going to counseling in hopes of gaining insight for my fiancé and me. He will acknowledge but never fully validate my hurt in this situation. The list goes on and on,” she revealed.

More recently, however, one more incident pushed her completely over the edge.

Just last week, she received a text from her fiancé’s sister-in-law informing her that her fiancé’s brother’s birthday party was being thrown on the exact same day as her bridal shower.

The real kicker is that her fiancé’s sister-in-law was even invited to the shower, yet still tried to claim in the message that the birthday party was not an attempt to “steal her thunder.”

Now, to be clear, she actually does not mind the woman throwing her fiancé’s brother a birthday party on the same day as her bridal shower.

“I do, however, think it’s disrespectful, considering my shower has been planned since February, and they have never had a birthday party for him before. And this is not a milestone birthday,” she said.

So, given her relationship with her fiancé’s sister-in-law, she thinks the whole thing was an intentional dig and that the woman is just throwing the party on the same day to cause trouble.

Regardless, she was still the bigger person– responding to the text message by saying “no worries” and telling her fiancé’s sister-in-law to enjoy the birthday celebration.

While the woman’s motives are clear as day to her, though, her fiancé still does not see the big problem. Plus, he even wants them to go to his brother’s birthday party!

On top of that, her fiancé has continued denying any wrongdoing by his brother or sister-in-law– which has seriously disappointed her.

“I expected that my fiancé would not want to attend because it upset me. I am being constantly disrespected, and he won’t validate my feelings,” she vented.

“Things are not getting better.”

And now, she’s been left wondering whether not wanting to attend the birthday party on the same day as her bridal shower actually makes her the jerk.

Do you agree that it seems like her fiancé’s sister-in-law did this to intentionally hurt her? Why do you think her fiancé never stands up for her? How would you feel in her shoes? Would you go to the birthday party?
