This 23-year-old woman is the youngest of four sisters.

Two of her sisters, 32 and 30, have children. Her third sister, 27, who she doesn’t get along with, doesn’t have or want children. On the other hand, she and her husband want to have children someday. The oldest sister (who lives abroad with her family) and the third sister don’t keep in touch.

At the end of the month, her third sister is having a child-free wedding. Their parents can no longer drive, and she also can’t drive, so transportation for the wedding was going to be tricky. Her husband can drive, and so can her older sister. However, her older sister is a single mom who doesn’t have a sitter to watch her kids for the wedding.

Going along with this, her husband didn’t want to go to the wedding because he and her soon-to-be brother-in-law despise each other. Their history with one another dates back years.

“My sister-in-law (husband’s sister) and soon-to-be brother-in-law (my sister’s fiancé) dated in high school. He got her pregnant and dipped. He tried to get her not to have the baby, accused her of cheating, the whole shebang,” she explained.

After having the baby, her husband’s sister did a DNA test and then sued for child support, and he was slandering her publicly to make her feel bad and tried to get her to put their child up for adoption.

From there, the situation took an even more tragic turn.

“When their son was five months old, he passed away due to an undetected medical issue. She was suffering and was hospitalized. My soon-to-be brother-in-law made a post about being free from the shackles of his ‘bank-draining baby mama’ and went on a partying streak to celebrate,” she continued.

Her soon-to-be brother-in-law continued publicly claiming her husband’s sister was a bad mother, even to this day.

He apparently skipped the funeral and has never gone to see his son’s grave. Also, he didn’t break the news to his own family about his son’s passing in time for them to be able to attend the funeral. He didn’t even help pay for the funeral and hasn’t mentioned his son throughout the years.

At the time of all of this tragedy, her husband was 15, and he worked overtime to assist in paying for the funeral. Understandably, he cannot stand her soon-to-be brother-in-law because of this horrific history.

Due to immense grief and trauma, her husband’s sister is still recovering but had a baby girl last year.

Because of this history and bad blood, her husband was planning to just drop her off at the wedding so that he didn’t have to attend.

However, last weekend, she decided that she would watch her older sister’s children so that her sister could drive their parents to the wedding and attend in her place. After the plan was finalized, she told her husband he no longer had to take off work to drive her to the wedding.

Her sister was upset when she found out that she wouldn’t be attending her wedding. She suggested finding someone else to drive their parents so that she could come.

“I told her no and that my older sister wanted to go. I’d rather her be there anyway, as if one of our parents falls or something, she knows what to do. My sister lost it and said I was being selfish. This is when I may be the jerk. I then told her I didn’t see the point in going to an event half the family would be missing from (referencing the kids),” she said.

Her sister made the point that she didn’t understand why the fact that it was a child-free wedding mattered to her since she didn’t have kids for whom she’d had to worry about finding childcare.

She responded by saying that the children were a better company and that she definitely wasn’t attending the wedding now.

Later, her sister offered to pay for a babysitter so that she could come to the wedding, but she still refused.

Her oldest sister is on her side, and her second sister feels bad about the situation. Their parents haven’t weighed in, and she thinks it’s because they’re just focusing on seeing their daughter get married.

Do you think she was in the right to refuse to attend her sister’s wedding?
