Her Parents Have Been Lying And Telling People She Met Her New Husband After Inviting Him To Hook Up With Her And Her Ex-Husband In An Effort To Save Their Marriage

As they say, people will believe what they want to about you no matter what, but what happens when your parents are the ones out there believing an outlandish lie about you?
A year ago, this woman and her new husband, H, spent time with her family to celebrate Thanksgiving.
When the festivities were over, and she and H were on their way out the door and headed home, her aunt asked if she could speak to her in a couple of days.
Her aunt wanted her to give her a call, and as her aunt was relaying this information, she could see her aunt was super upset about something.
Her aunt insisted she had to speak to her about an important matter, but then and there was not the right time.
“When I called to ask what was going on. My aunt said, “I heard something that seems very out of character for you, and I want to see if it’s true,” she explained.
“Evidently, a few days before Thanksgiving, my parents told her an untrue story about how my current husband and I met. To note, I was separated at the time from my now ex-husband when we met.”
Her aunt then informed her that her mom and dad have been going around telling everyone that she met her husband, H, online and that she asked H to hook up with her and her ex-husband in a desperate attempt to save her failure of a marriage.
But then, H realized he had a deep connection with her, so they got together while she followed through with a divorce from her ex.

Apparently, her mom and dad added in some more outlandish and disgusting details, which she hates to even think about.
She was completely horrified when she found out about the lies her own parents were spreading, as the way she met H was pretty tame in comparison.
“We met at work through mutual friends, and our romantic relationship developed slowly over a period of time,” she said.
“I had repeatedly told my parents how we met and even introduced our mutual friends to my parents at our wedding as “the ones who got us together.” So, I FaceTime my parents and ask them why they’re lying about us behind our backs.”
“They look me dead in the eyes and say, “Because that’s what you told us.” Excuse me?! When I refuted this, my dad proceeds to get angry at ME, saying that I must have amnesia as my mom stormed off, refusing to discuss the issue. The rest of the call is me sitting in silence while he attempted to gaslight me. I’m dumbfounded.”
Several days after this shocking call, her cousin phones her up to say that her own dad told her cousin’s husband this exact story…but it happened 8 years ago.
So her cousin and her cousin’s husband genuinely believed she had met H in this crazy, wild way, for years.
Her cousin issued an apology to her for not having mentioned it earlier, but she and her husband were so uneasy about the story they didn’t want to bring it up.
She and H then sat down to craft an email to her mom and dad, saying they now realize they have been spreading lies about them, before asking them a series of questions.
They asked her parents why they would feel the need to make a story like this up, and they questioned them about who else they told this story to.
The email got sent out a year ago, and since then, they have been exchanging replies but getting nowhere with it.
“Their story keeps changing, the blame keeps shifting, and they have continuously tried to diminish the seriousness of this issue, even saying, “no one thinks any less of you because of it,” she said.
“What? It never happened. Period. The only apology we’ve gotten is, “We’re sorry for upsetting you.” You mean you’re not sorry for lying about your daughter for 10 years?”
“Most recently, they have almost demanded that we forgive them and “move on.” Since we haven’t forgiven them yet, we’re “responsible” for my mother crying all the time and essentially breaking the family apart.”
She’s left wondering if it’s wrong of her to want to keep her distance from her parents even though they are accusing her of destroying their family with her distance.
