He’s Divorcing His Wife Because She Said She Wanted To Take A Trip With An Old Friend To Relax, But She Really Just Cheated On Him With One Of His Family Friends

This 26-year-old man prides himself on being a wonderful father and partner to his wife, 24. Their children are 2 and 4, and his wife is a stay-at-home mother.
Three years ago, he worked hard and started a company to provide his family more than he had during childhood. He cared deeply for his family and wanted them to be happy and supported.
When they started growing their family, his wife agreed to stay home to raise their children because this was the lifestyle he wanted for his family. Recently, his wife has occasionally mentioned wanting to have a getaway for herself.
Last week, she asked if he’d be alright with her staying in a hotel and then traveling to visit one of her friends in Salt Lake City whom she hadn’t seen in a long time. She planned to take this trip the following day.
“I trust my wife, so I say, ‘Sure, that’s okay.’ When she got back, she was just being so rude to me for no reason because the kids made a little mess, and I didn’t clean it up right away,” he said.
The day before his wife’s trip, he’d worked overnight for 30 hours. After that, he only slept for six hours because working for 26 hours.
Then, he had to move furniture in their home because he had their windows upgraded. From there, he slept for two hours before waking up to get their children ready for school (by this point, his wife had already left for her trip).
She was disrespectful to him for the remainder of the night after her return. He eventually learned that his wife spoke poorly about him to his sister that night. Unfortunately, his wife’s mean attitude toward him continued for several days afterward.
His wife had been out of the house for a few hours two days ago. When she got home, she was disrespectful at first but eventually changed completely, being incredibly physically affectionate and kind to him.

She started talking to him about where she’d been when she left the house a few hours ago. Apparently, she was at a gas station and ran into a friend.
Later, she and her friend met up at Target, and she chatted with her friend in their car for an hour. According to his wife, she wanted to inform him of what happened because his sister texted her to tell her that she saw her at Target. His sister wanted him to be aware of what happened, so his wife wanted to tell him about it.
“It turns out she had been really meeting with a guy who was a family friend of mine I’ve known since I was a kid. She told me she’s been only talking to him for a month, and she insists she didn’t sleep with him,” he explained.
He questioned his wife about her trip to the hotel, and she assured him that his friend had never visited her at the hotel because he’d been away on a business trip. His family friend works at a tinting company.
During the conversation, he asked to see her phone, and he noticed that his wife had her Instagram direct message settings set to “vanish mode” for her conversations so that he couldn’t see the messages between her and his family friend.
While looking through her phone, he checked his wife’s conversation with the friend she’d gone to visit in Salt Lake City, but according to Instagram, they hadn’t exchanged messages in 43 weeks, which seemed strange.
When he questioned her on this, she claimed that her friend’s partner is abusive, so they have to have their conversation on “vanish mode” so that her friend’s partner doesn’t read their conversations.
However, he didn’t believe this and was understandably crushed by his wife’s betrayal. He realized that he spent his own money on a hotel room for her to have an affair.
“She swears up and down they only kissed once, but how could I ever trust her? How does that even make sense? She pressed me so hard to go to the hotel. I’ve been so good to hear, but she threw it all away. Her family has been trying to get me to forgive her,” he shared.
When his wife’s family reached out to him, he realized that she hadn’t been honest with them about her affair and downplayed what happened between her and his family friend. Her family members parroted the line that his wife and the man she met up with only kissed once.
Now, he’s completely shattered. Thinking back on their marriage, he felt he was as great of a partner and parent as possible.
While he wished he could move past his wife’s affair, deep down, he knew he’d never be able to let it go.
Even though it hasn’t been healthy, he’s been using alcohol to cope, and the only time he sleeps is when he gets too intoxicated and passes out.
Ever since he found out his wife had been cheating, he hadn’t been able to stop the ruminating thoughts. He feels hopeless and like giving up, but he knows he must be better for his children.
Not long ago, he met with his lawyer, and he confronted his wife about his plans to file for divorce. He asked how they should address this with their children.
She was hopeful that he would change his mind and pleaded with him not to end their marriage, but he told her that his decision was final because they couldn’t go back in time and undo the pain that she had caused him.
What would you have done if you were in his shoes?
