She’s Considering Calling Off Her Engagement Because Her Fiancé Wants To Sell Their House To Fund His New Business While She’s Already Pregnant And The Sole Breadwinner

When you decide to have a baby and start a family, you must make major decisions regarding your finances and future plans.
A woman is considering calling off her engagement, as her fiancé, who just finished paying off debt from his failed business, told her he wants to start a new business, even though she is pregnant.
She and her fiancé, Adam, are in their late 20s and have been together for four years.
When they first met, they had similar jobs at different companies and earned the same amount of money. Then, a few months into their relationship, Adam decided he wanted to start a business.
Adam’s business eventually took off, and he started spending less time at his previous job to develop it. She kept her job but worked the occasional night shift for his business.
Unfortunately, after the pandemic hit, Adam’s business began failing, and he acquired a lot of debt.
Adam had to sell his business and get a loan from his parents because, at one point, he almost didn’t have enough money to pay rent.
Adam eventually got his old job back, and she was promoted and received a massive pay raise at her company.
Now, she earns over two times more than he does every year and is the most stable finance-wise.

Recently, she found out she was pregnant, which was exciting, as she and Adam had previously discussed having kids. However, their plans look different now. She used to want to be a stay-at-home mom, but she needs to continue working since she makes the most out of both of them.
Then Adam confessed something that was quite surprising to her. He told her that he wanted another shot at starting a new business before they had their baby.
“We had a fight, as this is the absolute worst time to start a business,” she explained.
“It hasn’t been a month since he paid off his parents, but he showed me his new business plans that would be funded by selling our house and downsizing.”
Adam insisted that his new business would take off since he had learned from his old mistakes and had a solid business plan.
Usually, she would support his endeavors, but because she’s pregnant and they have no savings due to all of Adam’s debt, she doesn’t want him to go through with this.
“I can’t believe Adam is being selfish and wants to quit his job and start a business right now,” she said.
“I want my old job back, but for the baby, I am keeping my job and making a sacrifice. Adam needs to keep his job and maybe revisit the business idea in the future.”
Her arguments with Adam have gotten so bad that she’s considering calling off their engagement because she doesn’t want him to risk their chances of living a comfortable life with their child.
Do you think she should call off the engagement?
