I always find it interesting when someone throws their spouse and marriage away, only to want it all back the minute their spouse tries to move on and pick up the pieces.

If the love of your life left you, but wanted another shot after you started dating again, would you give them another chance?

For the last few years, this man and his wife have truly been struggling. They’ve spent 25 years together, and following the loss of some of his wife’s family members, she was prescribed Xanax and amphetamines for her depression.

You’re not supposed to mix these medications with alcohol, but his wife did. He wasn’t super alarmed at first because it brought out a fun side of her, but then they were involved in an accident, his wife injured her shoulder, and everything fell apart.

His wife became constantly irritated and would go on tirades. She got involved in local politics and started hanging out in alleys and bars with a man she was desperately trying to help get elected to a specific position.

“Then came the casino and gambling. Gambled away tens of thousands. I had to refi the house twice, take out big loans; she took out loans in my name without my knowledge. Don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t being an angel throughout this,” he explained.

“I was mad and a huge [jerk]. Then she bought a burner phone to communicate with her single guy friend. She would go and stay at his house, but nothing ever happened except the one night they kissed. I was done, ready to end it.”

“She begged and made changes to stay. I said I’d forgive, but couldn’t get over what had happened already. After a year, I was still jealous and finding it hard to trust. I was suspicious of every move and started a lot of fights over my suspicions.”

His wife was angry that he wouldn’t move on from the kiss, and she also thought he should be doing more to get them out of the debt she had saddled them with.

Eventually, his wife stated she wanted a legal separation as a way to solve their financial hardships, but he didn’t want to do this at all.

They argued nontstop aboout splitting up, and his wife would go running into the arms of a mutual male friend of theirs whenever they disagreed.

He informed his wife that this upset him, and she responded that she would leave him before she quit being this man’s friend, which made their fights even uglier.

His wife was the one to file for divorce, and right after that, her mom became ill. His wife moved out of their house and said she was completely done with him.

In August, his wife’s mom passed away, and she had a guy sleep over with her on the evening of the memorial for her mom. His wife claimed nothing happened, and meanwhile, he was still pleading with her to come home to him.

“Within a couple of months, she slept with him. I’m still begging her to come home, [but] she [didn’t] want me. The holidays come, and I slept with someone,” he continued.

“Then she wants to try. I end it with the other girl, and she doesn’t want me again. Now early December I reconnect with an old friend we hit it off. I really like her. She is everything I’ve been wanting, and my ex is claiming she finally really loves me and wants me back….”

He’s left wondering what he should do, as he does still love his wife, but she’s already been stringing him along.

I find it suspicious that his wife left him and is now saying she loves him and wants him back only after he’s moved on and started seeing another woman.

She already said she wanted him back once and didn’t follow through, so I don’t believe that she deserves another chance at reconciling with him. Who’s to say she won’t drop him like a hot potato all over again?

It seems that he has a chance of being happy and finding love with this old friend of his, and it would be wiser to pursue her and see where that goes.

What advice do you have for him? Do you think his wife truly loves him, or is she just jealous that she’s being replaced, and another woman thinks he’s attractive?
