There are few things creepier than hearing your name being called when nobody is actually there. It’s the kind of experience that makes your stomach drop, especially when the voice sounds exactly like someone you know and trust.

The other day, TikToker @big_mama_tan and her husband left their 14-year-old son with his brother and sister while they went grocery shopping.

When they returned, he told her that he had heard her calling him from outside through the open window in their bedroom. However, they weren’t home at the time he heard her voice.

Now, she thinks they have a mimic living among them.

It wasn’t the first incident involving mysterious voices in the house. A few days ago, she was in the bathroom getting dressed after taking a shower when her 14-year-old son knocked on the door.

She told him to come in, confused about why he was there. He opened the door and asked what she needed because he thought she had just called for him.

Once again, she insisted that she had never called his name.

“I haven’t had any experiences in this home,” said @big_mama_tan. “I did in the last house we were in, but I haven’t had any experiences here. But he swears that whatever is calling him sounds just like me, and he hears it as clear as a bell.”

Many TikTok users flocked to the comments section to share similar experiences involving mimics, which are paranormal entities that imitate familiar voices to lure or confuse people.

“He should never answer, even if it’s calling him to go outside. What I get is knocking on my front door, my bedroom door, and my bedroom window in the middle of the night. I don’t answer. It scares me, of course, but I don’t acknowledge it,” warned one user.

“Mine messed up because my mom and I were standing outside my room talking, and we both heard my name in her voice. We looked at each other…if I do hear my name now, it’s in another voice I’ve never heard before. I ignore it,” commented another.

“Something similar happened to me with my mom!! She was at the gym, and I heard her calling me from outside her bedroom window, asking to be let in. I called her, and she was still at the gym,” wrote a third.

“[My mom and I] have a mimic. One time, she heard my voice asking for help at night, but the thing was, I was out somewhere at night. My mom comes from her office at night, asking us to make dinner, but it’s like nine, and we eat dinner at five,” added a fourth.

Now, the only thing left to do is to figure out how to get rid of this mimic.
