If your spouse went on a vacation and when they came back, you found a handwritten note from one of their former coworkers inside, would you think the worst had happened?
This 25-year-old woman has spent two years married to her 30-year-old husband. He works as a cop for one of the alphabet agencies, and she's an engineer.
Recently, her husband went away on a trip with his friends and borrowed her suitcase. When he returned, she found a handwritten note inside her suitcase from a woman, and that instantly made her worried and suspicious.
"I confronted him about it, and he explained that the suit he wore for detective bureau/work-related events was the same suit he wore when he went out with his friend during the trip, and that the note likely got left in the suit pocket and ended up in the suitcase accidentally," she explained.
"Based on what the note said, that explanation honestly did make logical sense. At first, I panicked and messaged the woman because I felt sick over the situation and didn’t know what to think."
"But while talking to my husband, I actually started feeling guilty and embarrassed for assuming the worst if it really was just an innocent misunderstanding. I ended up apologizing to her and explaining that I may have misunderstood the situation."
Right after she said sorry to this woman, who had written her name and phone number down on the note she found in her suitcase, this woman revealed that she had slept with her husband!
She went back to her husband with the information, and he insisted that this woman was trying to hurt him and stir up drama because of things related to her case.
She just doesn't understand why a woman would make false claims like that after she had already said sorry to her. So, she's really left spiraling over all of this.

"What’s messing with my head is: his explanation about the suit and the note honestly DID make sense. I initially felt reassured enough to apologize to her," she added.
"Then she suddenly escalated things massively by claiming they slept together. After saying she would call me, she stopped responding. Now I feel like I’m stuck choosing who is more believable without actual proof."
"I genuinely cannot tell if she’s telling the truth and my husband is lying, or she’s lying/manipulating the situation and my husband is telling the truth. I feel like I’m losing my mind trying to analyze every detail and figure out what’s real.
She's wondering how she can figure out what the actual truth is here. Adding to the insanity? Her friend discovered a photo of this woman standing in front of a police car at the exact place where her husband previously worked.
And before she told her husband that she had discovered the note, she questioned him about whether he knew anyone by that woman's name, and he said they used to work together.
I'm worried that this woman was telling her the truth, and that her husband did or said something to silence her. It just doesn't add up, her husband's version of events.
I think she has to ask herself who has more to lose here? A woman she doesn't even know, or her husband, who risks losing their marriage and the life they have built if he's outed as a cheater?
As I said, I am not buying the story her husband is telling, but I do believe this other woman, who used to work with him.
What advice do you have for her?
