If you were pregnant and only wanted specific people in the delivery room with you, but found out that your spouse was busy scheming with their parent to circumvent your wishes, what would you do?
This 23-year-old woman has spent the last four years with her 25-year-old husband, and she tied the knot with him two years ago.
Now, she never got along that well with her mother-in-law, and before she got pregnant, her mother-in-law simply steered clear of her, so she did the same.
After did get pregnant, she informed her husband that she wanted to keep it a secret from everyone until they hit three months, due to her family history.
Her mom miscarried five times, and she was concerned she could experience the same thing. She recalled how heartwrenching it was for her mom to lose so many babies, and she didn’t want her loved ones to go through that.
Her husband promised to keep their pregnancy a secret, but two days later, her mother-in-law texted her that she knew she was pregnant with a girl, and she called her selfish for not saying anything about it.
She was only four weeks pregnant and didn’t even know her baby’s gender, so that confused her. She was so angry with her husband for telling his mom about their pregnancy that she didn’t speak to him for a whole week.
Her mother-in-law pretty much told anyone and everyone about the baby, and other people grew furious with her for trying to keep it private for a period of time.
“Then, the harassment from my MIL started. At around 4 months, [my husband and I] went to visit my family and left my MIL responsible for watering the plants,” she explained.

“When we came back, a whole nursery was made, all pink with the name Olga Bertha painted on the wall. Keep in mind that I had no idea about the gender still, and of [course] this was an EXTREME privacy violation. I had a harsh conversation with her, she cried, and my husband then [got] mad because I was mean to his mom.”
“But this was just the beginning of the harassment. She was sending me articles every day about the bad effects of working out during pregnancy, criticizing what I had for each meal, and she started crying because I wanted to exclusively [not formula feed]. She literally said, ‘Feeding MY baby is a critical bonding moment, [you’re] stealing that from me,’ for not wanting visitors for one month, and then, the delivery room.”
Her mother-in-law demanded to be there in the delivery room, but she declined, as she only planned for her husband to witness the birth.
Her mother-in-law wasn’t happy about it, but never brought the subject up again. One day, while her husband was in the shower, she saw that her mother-in-law had messaged him.
They were supposed to go to lunch together that day, so she opened up the message, thinking her mother-in-law had suggested a location.
But no, she uncovered hundreds of texts between her husband and mother-in-law talking about how they would get her into the delivery room.
She sobbed when she was by herself about it, but then she decided to do something about their twisted plan. She told her husband she was going to see her parents for a couple of days, and promised to let him know if something happened with the baby while she was away.
So, she drove to Florida from North Carolina to see her family. She then went into labor, and only her mom and sisters were there with her when she delivered her son. Her husband had no idea.
“Now, to the present, my son is 2 weeks old, and I finally told my husband what I did. He is driving down here and yelled at me for giving birth without telling him, and for not including him on the birth certificate or name choice, and keeps saying that he and his mom will sue me,” she continued.
She’s left wondering if she was wrong to literally run away to give birth to her son.
Oh, baby, I would have run away too! I think it’s probably a good idea for her not to leave her mom and dad’s house, because it seems to me that her marriage is finished if her husband and mother-in-law are threatening to sue her. How crazy.
She needs to call a lawyer to help her navigate this one.
