When TikToker Destiny (@doseofdestinyyy) was working at a club, she met a guy who claimed that he was a professional football player, but it all turned out to be a lie.
At first, Destiny didn't detect any red flags from him. She also didn't think to double-check the accuracy of the information he was giving her. They exchanged phone numbers and started texting.
He invited her out one night, and she decided to go. She met up with him at his friend's place because they were going to the club as one large group. His apartment was just down the hall.
So, they went to the club and then to an after-hours party. The establishment did not have a basic drink that she tried to order, which she thought was odd. Then, they left, and there was some confusion with the rides.
"At this point, I'm getting irritated," said Destiny. "After the drink situation, I was like, yeah, I don't know about this ever again. And then, the Uber situation."
"His Uber stopped working randomly, so he has to call his friend to call the Uber. You're not giving leader. You're not giving head honcho with the team. What's going on now?"
They ended up at a college apartment. They were just chilling on the couch when he tried to make some moves on her. She told him that she didn't want to hook up. By then, she had realized that he was a liar and a fraud.
"You're not really who you say you are," said Destiny. "This is not conducive to the lifestyle that you were talking about in the beginning. So, what I'm going to do is make my exit because now you're making me uncomfortable."
She also texted a friend who lived in the same apartment complex to rescue her. When her friend knocked on the door at 4:00 a.m., Destiny announced that she had to go do something with her friend. After she left, she never spoke to that guy again.

In the comments section, many TikTok users shared stories about guys pretending to be someone they're not on dates. Sadly, it's a very common phenomenon.
"I dated a man who worked part-time for FedEx. Got laid off and kept getting up early to be out of the house to make it look like he still had a job. The craziest part is that I lived three hours away, so instead of just lying and saying he was off when I visited, he did that! Insane," commented one user.
"A man lied to me and told me that he was the drum major at a popular HBCU, and then I told him I was annoyed because I looked up the real drum major, and it was not him, and he crashed out because I looked it up," wrote another.
"I matched with a guy who said he played in the NBA. Turned out he only played college ball like four years ago and never was in the NBA. Also, he wasn't even that great in college," added a third.
@doseofdestinyyy that boy lying about playing on the 49ers is not a new tactic and actually his playbook is quite dated he's just more committed than most 🤣🤣🤣 I too have been a victim of the fake pro player play 😔😔😔 NEVER AGAIN but there was a time 💀💀 #storytime #storytelling #storytimes #grwmstorytime #story
