She’s Not Going To Her Sister’s Wedding Because She Has To Stay Home To Take Care Of Her Sick Cat

A 32-year-old woman has a younger sister who is 28, and her sister’s wedding is in just a couple of days.
Her sister’s wedding is being held in Florida, and she lives 36 hours away from where the wedding will be if you drive.
“Of course, my plan was always to be at my sister’s wedding, she’s had the date set for over a year,” she explained.
“But my cat Bud contracted a very serious illness a month and a half ago that I cannot leave him alone for.”
“A month and a half ago I found out my cat, Bud, who is a year and a half and I adopted as a kitten, has a disease called FIP. It is rare and considered fatal with no cure.”
Her vet did mention a medicine that hasn’t been approved by the FDA yet that can help Bud, so she was able to get a hold of it.
So far, it’s cost her nearly $5,000 to treat Bud with this medication, and he’s finally doing great. He does require this medication to be given to him in multiple shots every single day.
If Bud misses his shot even by a little, it will result in him relapsing and requiring a longer treatment period.
This also means that if he misses any of his shots, she needs to shell out a lot more money for the prolonged treatment.

Bud will be done with his medication in another month, and she has to be the one to give him his medication every single day.
“I can’t go to my sister’s wedding, however,” she said. “I feel horrible. I told her a week into treating Bud (so about a month ago, once it seemed like it was working) that I wouldn’t be able to go.”
“I can’t afford to go anyway, but even if I could I don’t want to risk bringing him and adding a ton of stress (which could cause a relapse) or find someone I can teach to give his shots and hope they do it correctly (it is not easy).”
Bud is very difficult when getting his shots, and he tries to bite or claw her.
She’s attempted to train one of her friends on how to administer the shots, but Bud is so bad about it she can’t get anyone else to do it except for her.
Another issue is that since the medication Bud is taking isn’t approved by the FDA, she cannot ask to board Bud with her vet while she’s gone and have them give the shots.
“My sister is livid,” she continued. “My family thinks I am being stupid. She says I care more about my cat than her which is not true… but I’m trying to save his life right now and going could literally be deadly to him.”
“A lot of my family is saying I’m uncaring and self-centered and while I felt sure with my decision before I’m starting to doubt myself.”
Do you think she’s terrible for choosing her sick cat over her sister’s wedding?
