This Guy Told His Best Friend That He Isn’t Getting Him A Wedding Gift To Pay Him Back For Never Being Thoughtful Over The Years

A 28-year-old man has a best friend a decade older than him who is set to tie the knot this upcoming summer.
He’s been best friends with this guy since they both were in college together, and so they’ve been friends for years now.
The thing about his friend is that this guy is pretty selfish and has never once gone out of his way to get him a present.
“For all the years I’ve known him, he’s never given me a gift, for my birthday or Christmas or any other event,” he explained.
“The only exception is when he was my secret Santa during one Christmas. On the other hand, I always have gotten him something.”
“In college, money was tighter, so I would do something smaller like pay for his dinner for the night.”
He really is not “materialistic” and he thinks that it’s the thought that counts. If his best friend had gone out of his way to get him anything at all, even a tiny something, that would have made him thrilled.
However, his best friend has simply never done anything like that, and he has been feeling upset about this for years.
His best friend has no problem buying presents for literally everyone else in his life, so he’s really unsure of what’s going on here.

“Trust me, he showers his fiancée with anything she wants and spoils her,” he said. “No slight to her, she’s a wonderful woman and deserves it.”
“He also gets things for other friends and his family, which is probably why this rubs me the wrong way.”
His best friend is truly his best friend in the world, and he knows his best friend feels the same way about him, so why does his best friend only get presents for everyone else but him?
Not that long ago, he went out for lunch with his girlfriend, his best friend, and his best friend’s fiancée.
The topic of his best friend’s wedding came up during lunch, and his best friend wanted to know what he would be buying for a wedding present.
“I told him all the years of missed birthday and Christmas gifts was their gift,” he continued. “When I said this, he got pretty angry and said I was being petty and “trying to start something.”
“His fiancée was trying to calm him down, but she seemed pretty confused and asked if he really never got me anything.”
His best friend wouldn’t answer his own fiancée, and lunch came to a screeching halt. He was just joking by saying he wasn’t going to get his best friend a wedding present, but after how his best friend acted at lunch he thinks maybe this is for the best that he go through with his joke.
His girlfriend believes that he’s in the wrong and should not have talked about this issue during lunch.
“I agree that a restaurant probably wasn’t the best place to have that conversation, but I wasn’t trying to even talk about it really,” he concluded.
“It was a small comment that I did not think would turn out to be as much of a problem as it has.”
Do you think it was alright for him to make that comment at lunch?
