An 18-year-old girl has a stepdad who entered her life when she was around 4 or 5-years-old.

Although her mom never did marry her stepdad, they’ve spent the last 12 years together, and they also have 2 children with one another.

Her mom’s side of the family and her stepdad’s side of the family treats her parents like they basically are married since they’ve been together for so long.

“My stepdad (the guy mentioned above) practically raised me along with my siblings,” she explained.

“He has a brother who was good for a while and would spend a little time with us here and there. Not long after, he turned to drugs and for a long time, the family hated him and pushed him away and we never saw him around.”

A couple of years ago, her stepdad’s brother made an effort to get clean and completely start a new, better life for himself.

After that, he started hanging out with them all again, though she was still wary of this guy. Growing up, she had heard all of the bad things her mom and dad said about him and his addiction, and she kept thinking about that.

One year ago, she celebrated her 18th birthday and was excited to go out and get her very first job.

“The one who got me the job was my step-uncle and it was so I had someone I knew there (since I was pretty shy and this was my first ever job),” she said.

“At the time, I didn’t have a car and since my uncle worked at the same place, he offered to drive me to and from work.”

“I was hesitant at the idea, seeing as I hated his guts, but much to my surprise, once I spent more time with him he wasn’t so bad. He was actually fun to be around.”

When she had to work early in the morning, her uncle would take her out to breakfast and then to get coffee before heading to work.

She really grew to look forward to that time she got to spend alongside him. Not only did she find that she enjoyed hanging out with him; she started to fall in love with him.

“I only recently admitted to myself the feelings I have for him though and I have no idea if he feels the same,” she continued.

“I don’t know if I should tell him because if he doesn’t feel the same, it would probably get awkward and likely make him stop hanging out with me, which I don’t want. I want to spend every moment with him and laugh with him and get to know more of him.”

“He’s made comments about being lonely at times and I desperately want to tell him that I’m here and I can be the one to fill his void. I want to be his best friend, his partner, and the first person on his mind each day.”

Right now, she is only 18, and her uncle is 42-years-old. She has not revealed her feelings to any of her family members, and she’s not sure if she should.

She’s wondering if she should share her feelings with her family, as well as her uncle.
