This thirty-five-year-old man and his wife, who is twenty-eight, have been together for ten years. And now, they have three children, who are fifteen, eleven, and three.

About four years ago, though, the couple went through a rough patch, and he actually had a one-night stand. So, that one night ultimately led to their youngest child being born– whom they now have full custody of.

Despite his wife not being their youngest child’s biological mother, though, she is the only mother their child has ever known.

“All of the children call my wife their mom, and she is a great parent. She got the eldest into gymnastics and swimming, she does their homework with them, and they are really close,” he said.

“It’s hard to explain exactly how she is a good parent. She just is.”

About eight months ago, though, they found out that they were expecting– and he and his wife were over the moon. But unfortunately, the idea of having a new baby in the family caused his youngest to start acting out.

According to his child’s nursery teachers, the behavior is completely normal. In fact, it is typical for young children to regress after finding out some big news.

So, they learned to deal with all of the changes together. Well, that was until seven months into his wife’s pregnancy when they tragically lost the baby.

Of course, he was very upset. But he claims that the miscarriage completely devastated his wife.

“She acts like everything is normal, but she is crying herself to sleep,” he vented.

And to be honest, he just does not have the emotional bandwidth to deal with it anymore. He claims that he is already exhausted, and he also lost a child– not just his wife.

Just recently, though, one more incident totally sent him and his wife over the edge.

It all began one morning last week when he was getting ready for work. At the same time, his wife was trying to get their youngest ready for school.

And it appears that his wife and child were having a rough morning together because out of the blue, he heard his youngest tell his wife: “You’re not my mom; you don’t love me.”

Now, surprisingly, this is not the first time his youngest has told his wife this. And to be honest, they have no clue how their child knows that his wife is not her mother.

Regardless, though, he ended up ignoring it and going to work anyway. Then, once he got home, he learned that a ton of drama had unfolded while he was gone.

According to his eldest child, his wife had dropped off their youngest at nursery school. Then, his wife went home, locked herself in their bedroom, and cried for a few hours before leaving the house altogether.

So, after learning that, he decided to shoot his wife a text and ask what had happened. To his shock, though, he got a pretty angry reply.

“Thanks for helping me this morning. I am staying at my mother’s. I’m not in the mood to help with your child at the moment since you don’t help me or tell her I’m her mother,” his wife reportedly texted back.

Now, of course, they both believe that their youngest child deserves to know the truth. And they have tried to explain that his wife was really their child’s stepmother before.

But their kid is just too young to understand yet, and they plan to explain the situation more in-depth once their youngest is older.

In terms of what happened that morning and why his wife left the house, though, he first tried to explain that he had to go to work. Plus, he pointed out how his wife has handled that same situation alone many times before.

Apparently, though, his wife did not like hearing that– because she actually just left his message on “read.”

“So, I apologized. I didn’t realize she was so unhappy. But I said that at the end of the day, our youngest lost her sibling, too, and it has been a difficult transition,” he explained.

He also revealed that now, they are looking into family counseling to navigate all of the grief and loss.

In the meantime, though, his wife is still very upset, and he has been left wondering if not comforting his wife that morning before going to work makes him a total jerk.

After he cheated and had another baby, his wife stepped up and decided to mother that child as one of her own– would you have done the same? Does it sound like he is being empathetic enough toward his wife after she just lost a late-stage pregnancy? Do you believe he should have stepped in that morning, especially after knowing how depressed his wife had been? If not, what would you have done?
