She Told Her 17-Year-Old Sister That It’s Honestly Their Parent’s Fault That Their Half-Sisters Hate Her
A 21-year-old girl has a 17-year-old sister named Amber, and they also have 2 half-sisters; 21-year-old Krystal and 23-year-old Jessica.
Now, her parents have really gone out of their way to make it not an option for her and Amber to maintain any kind of relationship with Krystal and Jessica.
“Their mom is/was a model, so we grew up hearing how she was a s*** and how the girls would probably be the same, how they are shallow and dumb for liking makeup and fashion or stupid for not speaking English well (they do speak it now),” she explained.
“During our childhood, they traveled quite a few times, and our family would just not show up. Mind you, I think from Korea, it’s like a 13-hour flight. We never visited, we never learned their language, so being with them was awkward.”
“If they called, our parents wouldn’t pick up and would tell us to hang up the phone if it was them. The few times they actually were with us, my parents would ignore them or be plain rude; something that always stood out to me is when Jessica got so sick she got dehydrated because my parents wouldn’t care for her.”
“My sister Amber and I would be mean too tbh although we were children, Jessica and Krystal don’t see our family anymore. They were always nice, they would share their stuff with us even when we were mean, and they made an effort with the language barrier.”
She only saw Krystal and Jessica’s mom a handful of times, but this woman was always super nice to her and her sister Amber.
Krystal and Jessica’s mom also always bought birthday and Christmas presents for her and Amber too.
When she got older, it finally dawned on her that it was incredibly messed up between her half-sisters and her half-sister’s mom and their family.
When she reached the age of 16, she actually made an effort to contact Krystal and Jessica and speak to them.
She ended up saying sorry to them, too, for how mean she had been, and she currently does have a decent relationship with both of her half-sisters.
“They are like those girls you find in the bathroom at a club at night,” she said. “Super funny, super cute, super pretty, I adore them. They both have been there for me through my last break up; I have been there for both of them when a few stuff happened, and we get along well.”
“Recently, our grandma died. She is the only one that has always been nice to them, and they actually came for the funeral (they were in the country, so not much travel) there’s been troubles with my parents, the inheritance, things I expected tbh but what surprised me was how upset Amber was at them being “rude”? They did say hi to everyone but mostly stayed together (or with me if no one was close) and talked only when talked to.”
“Apparently, that was rude of them, and after the funeral, when they left, Amber started cursing them and talking s***; it was SO annoying.”
She informed Amber that their half-sisters probably would not have been so stand-offish if their own parents had not pitted them all against one another.
She then told Amber to grow up and acknowledge that because it was time for her to do so. Well, Amber got really angry at her for saying their parents were in the wrong.
Her mom and dad also got upset with her for saying they didn’t handle things well when they were all little.
She used to be pretty low contact with her mom and dad, but now she’s completely no contact with them over this problem.
As for Amber, she has only reached out to her since the funeral to throw insults her way, and that is it.
She’s left feeling awful and that perhaps Amber is not grown up enough yet to understand the reality and truth of the situation.
“…And honestly, our parents have been good to us, so I should have said nothing instead of making them look bad; I guess I’m confused,” she concluded.
She’s wondering if it was wrong of her to tell Amber that it’s really their mom and dad’s fault for her not having a relationship with Krystal and Jessica. Do you think it was wrong of her, or is it time for Amber to face the music?
