She Told Her Daughter That She Had To Lose Some “Baby Fat” If She Wanted To Wear A Mermaid-Style Wedding Dress She Tried On

Strained mother-daughter relationships can sometimes be either mended or made worse during weddings.
This 39-year-old woman’s daughter Miley, 23, is getting married in late August. Sadly, their relationship wasn’t repaired during the wedding planning process.
Miley and her girlfriend Angie, 24, were planning a small backyard wedding of about 50 guests. Also, Miley had twin babies in mid-June, named James and Linda.
In May, she and Miley had a falling out, and she also said that she’s never been fond of Angie due to Miley and Angie’s past on-and-off dating history.
Recently, her mother reached out and asked her to stay with her for a few weeks to help with the wedding planning.
Apparently, she hadn’t known that Miley was dating anyone. She thought that Miley was single. She didn’t know that Miley was back together and engaged to Angie.
She didn’t tell anyone that she was coming to help plan the wedding.
“I surprised them at a restaurant, and Miley didn’t seem all too happy, but she let me stay. Over the past two weeks, we picked out decor, cake flavors, etc. Turns out, Miley and Angie have been planning to get married since last October, but thanks to many problems, we’re just now planning, so we’re on a crunch, so it’s been hectic,” she explained.
While tensions were already running high between her and Miley, the situation intensified while she, Miley, and others involved in the wedding went wedding dress shopping.

She suggested a couple of styles to Miley, but Miley didn’t like her suggestions. Miley was apparently looking for a dress that was a princess style but not a ball gown. She said that Miley seemed to be more receptive to others’ opinions but not hers.
“Miley tried on a style her sister-in-law liked, some lacey mermaid dress. I told her no and that if she wanted a tight dress, she would have to lose some of the baby fat (she still had extra pounds from pregnancy),” she shared.
“She told me that it wasn’t the for-sure dress, just an option she wanted to look into, but ‘Thanks for reminding her she wouldn’t look good in a tighter dress,’ and that my opinion wasn’t really needed.”
She said that after Miley’s comments, things felt incredibly awkward.
“I felt unwelcome, though I was still trying to give advice on her dresses. After the fourteenth dress, I asked her to pick one, or we could go to another store. She just looked at me, left, got dressed, and told us, ‘Let’s go,'” she said. She told Miley that she should buy a dress, and Miley told her no.
Then, she told Miley that she was “throwing a fit” and that she was taking her comments too personally and wasting time. After that, Miley ignored her for the rest of the day.
The next day, Miley’s fiancée Angie sent her a long text message saying that Miley was “an angel” for giving her a chance, that Miley is a “gorgeous woman who can make her own choices,” and Angie also said that she is a “raging, narcissistic sociopath.”
Angie ended the message by saying that she was debating on not allowing her to come to their wedding. She received this message before she was going to go with Miley to pick out flowers for the wedding ceremony.
After the whole ordeal, she said that her mom and a few of her friends and aunts have said she didn’t do anything wrong and that she just gave some constructive criticism. She agrees and feels like the things she said don’t justify the way Miley responded.
Do you think she was wrong for what she said to Miley?
