Her Parents Want Her To Help Financially Support Her Brother’s Family Because He Has Three Kids, And She Doesn’t Have Any Yet

This 29-year-old woman is the only girl in her family and has six brothers. She also has a whopping 20 nieces and nephews!
According to her, her family is in a “weird cult.” So, as a child, she was taught that having children was the ultimate end goal.
“I hated growing up like this, and I promised myself I wouldn’t have kids until I was secure in my career and marriage,” she said.
That’s why, even though she is currently married, she doesn’t plan to have children right now. Instead, she hopes to have kids sometime within the next decade.
Until then, she plans to enjoy her life and save up money until she feels comfortable starting a family.
Her five oldest brothers, on the other hand, all work as tradesmen. So, they make a solid living to financially support their families.
However, her youngest brother realized that he had a chance to break the mold and get out of her traditional family. He wound up going ROTC, and everything was working out wonderfully.
Well, that was until her brother visited home for Christmas a few years ago, and her family started berating him for not yet starting a family.
This pushed her brother to begin having kids. And now, he has a stay-at-home wife who watches his three kids but absolutely no money.

Her parents know that her brother is struggling, too, and they think that she is extremely well off.
So, they recently approached her and wanted her to help out her brother’s family– claiming that she has “more money than she needs.”
But honestly, she doesn’t think that’s the case at all. Instead, she is simply saving up her money now to ensure she can better support her family later.
Regardless, her parents just don’t understand that she is trying to set herself and her husband up for a better life in the future.
“My parents only see that my husband and I are living in a big house and driving new cars and taking awesome vacations,” she explained.
“They cannot compute that the reason I can do this is that I don’t have kids yet.”
Still, she decided to tell her parents that she would contribute an amount that was equal to her parents’ and older brothers’ contributions.
She would not match the overall amount; rather, she would just put in as much money as the person who contributed the least.
Well, her parents weren’t happy about that and actually accused her of being both petty and parsimonious.
She refused to budge, though, and told her parents that she believed her offer was fair. Plus, she claimed that if they didn’t agree, then she could just withdraw her contribution altogether.
Since then, her parents have been extremely upset with her. Several of her brothers are on their side, too, and even berated her for “hoarding her blessings.”
Nonetheless, she did point out how she was always taught that children were the greatest blessing of all. So, she claimed that all her brothers were better off than she was.
“And I may have been rude when I said that,” she vented.
In turn, she’s now been left wondering whether refusing to help out her brother financially really just made her a jerk.
Is she obligated to help out her brother’s family? Does it sound like her parents are trying to guilt-trip her? If you were in her shoes, would you have refused also?
