His Girlfriend Refuses To Travel Anywhere By Plane Because She Shares The Same Name As Someone On The “No Fly List” And Always Runs Into Issues, But He Doesn’t Understand Why She Doesn’t Just Try To Do Anything About It

This man and his girlfriend, 22, have been dating for eight months. Unfortunately, his girlfriend shares the same name as someone on the no-fly list.
Because of this, she and her family encountered problems at the airport, and it’s been an issue for her whole life.
When she was a toddler, it was obvious that she wasn’t the same person as the one with the same name on the no-fly list.
His girlfriend was born in Canada, and her parents are both citizens of Canada as well. She has never been in any sort of legal trouble, and nor have her parents.
Every time her family ran into problems while trying to take a flight, they were always able to eventually get the issue resolved so that they could board the plane, but it was definitely a hassle.
As an adult, his girlfriend has only tried to take a flight once.
“She ended up not being allowed on the flight, and she ended up missing her flight and then not being allowed on the next flight she had been transferred to,” he said.
“Finally, she was allowed to fly, but by then, she had missed her connecting flight, and she ended up not going and just getting a refund on everything.”
This was all stressful enough, but she had to fight to get a refund on the original flight she booked.

While the airline was willing to refund her for the connecting flight and her tickets to fly back, it was tough for her to get a refund for the first flight.
Even though his girlfriend had traveled to other countries prior to adulthood, she told him that she would only travel somewhere if she could drive, take a train, or a boat.
If the only option for her to get somewhere was my plane, she wouldn’t travel to that particular location.
Over the years, she crossed the border from Canada into the United States and back a few times, and she luckily didn’t have any problems arise.
Issues only come up when she’s tried to fly, no matter if it’s a domestic or international flight, and it’s due to the no-fly list.
His girlfriend works for the federal government, and no issues have come up with her job. It’s only been at airports and trying to board flights that become complicated.
“She says her parents tried getting her name removed. Apparently, they talked to airlines, the government, lawyers, and politicians, but it never got resolved,” he explained.
“I have told her that she should try dealing with this again, but she says there is no point.”
Whenever he’s brought it up, she tells him that she’s decided she won’t bother getting on a plane.
He has tried to do some online research on his own and has read articles and stories about this type of situation happening to other people. So, he knows she’s not alone in her stressful and frustrating experiences.
“I called her out on her reason for not flying and for not wanting to fix this,” he shared.
In his view, it’s irritating that she won’t try again to see if she can get the problem fixed so that she can fly with less hassle, and he wonders if he was wrong for how he reacted to her statement about not wanting to just give up on flying.
Do you think he was wrong for being annoyed with his girlfriend about this?
