Her Husband’s A Jeweler, Yet Refused To Get Her A Specific Necklace For Her Birthday And Claimed It Wasn’t “Appropriate,” So She Got It Herself, And Now He’s Mad

Jewelry is one of the most common presents to receive for milestones, from weddings and birthdays to anniversaries. So, since this woman and her husband are both jewelers, you might assume that gift-giving in their household is pretty easy.

Well, according to her, that assumption couldn’t be more wrong.

For some context, she is set to turn 50-years-old soon, and over the last five or six months, she’s been asking her husband to buy her a specific necklace for both her birthday and holiday present.

She even showed him photos of the piece and provided him with contact information for the necklace’s designer.

Plus, each time that her husband asked what she wanted for her birthday, she made sure to reiterate that she really just wanted that one necklace.

“Well, the day is almost here, and my husband has zero plans made for anything,” she revealed.

On top of that, her husband also told her that he didn’t believe the necklace would be an “appropriate” gift for her fiftieth birthday.

Quite honestly, she cannot understand that, either. After all, they are both jewelers, and they make a living by selling pieces to be given as gifts to loved ones.

“This is literally what we have done for decades. So, it’s appropriate for anyone, but just not me?” she asked.

That’s why she decided to just ignore her husband’s “bizarre and bewildering statement” and buy the necklace for herself instead. To be clear, she also checked with her husband before making the purchase to confirm that he hadn’t bought it already, and he admitted that he didn’t intend to, either.

But, ever since she decided to buy herself the jewelry, her husband has been really mad. She was also able to get the piece via trade since she works in the industry, and that just caused her husband to “scoff.”

“No congrats. No ‘happy you finally got it.’ Just a sneer and an eye roll,” she recalled.

On top of that, her husband also made a pretty snarky remark about the necklace, saying, “I don’t even know why you like that necklace so much. I don’t get it.”

Now, she claimed that the necklace was actually the designer’s number one selling piece of jewelry, so it made sense why she also loved it.

More importantly, though, her husband obviously wasn’t going to buy it for herself, and she just wanted to make herself happy.

“It’s just a gold link chain. And I really, truly did want it,” she vented.

Nonetheless, with her husband now so annoyed at her, she can’t help but wonder if buying the necklace she wanted for her birthday on her own was really a jerky move.

Why do you think her husband was so opposed to getting her the necklace for her fiftieth? Do you think she had a right to get the piece of jewelry if it made her happy? What would you have done in her shoes?
