Caffeine consumption is a very talked-about health topic right now, especially after a young woman tragically passed away after drinking Panera’s charged lemonade with a heart condition.

More and more energy drinks seem to be coming out each year, and it’s pretty wild to think about how much caffeine people can drink in a week.

One TikTok creator recently went viral after he decided to consume 800mg of caffeine, which is twice the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) recommended daily amount. Why did he do it? Well, to see what would happen.

Mino (@sigma_mino) decided to consume 800mg of caffeine all at once and documented his video, which was posted in September.

The FDA has stated that 400mg is a standard amount of caffeine that, if consumed daily, should have no negative effects. However, everyone reacts to caffeine differently and should be mindful of how much they consume, especially if they have a health condition.

“What would happen if you overdosed on caffeine?” asks Mino at the beginning of his video.

“Well, me too. Today, I took 800 milligrams of caffeine, and it was the worst day of my life.”

The video then hard cuts to Mino consuming some form of highly concentrated caffeinated powder, which appears to be a pre-workout drink powder.

He pours two scoops of the powder, equal to 800mg of caffeine, directly into his mouth and washes it down with water.

The caffeine immediately shocked his system, and Mino experienced five different ‘stages’ throughout the day.

The first stage was a sort of manic euphoria, where he was bouncing off the walls and able to get a full workout in. Then, in stage two, the ‘pain’ stage hit, and he immediately felt ill.

“I think I might seize up if I don’t drink more water,” says Mino.

“I’m not even joking. I’m gonna puke.”

Sure enough, Mino was sick. But once he cleared out his stomach, he felt great again and was experiencing more euphoria.

However, that third stage of euphoria did not last long. Later in the day, he began to feel a “spontaneous sadness,” which he described as the fourth stage. Later in his video, Mino explains that the sadness from the caffeine in his system was extreme and scary.

“Jokes aside, please do not try this,” writes Mino in the text of his video.

“The ‘spontaneous sadness’ I described was actually somehow the saddest I felt in months. I genuinely felt so anxious [and] dejected, it was scary.”

Around 1:00 am, Mino was hit with a burst of productive energy and sat at his computer vigorously working for a long time, which explains his fifth and final stage, ‘spontaneous 1:00 am productivity.’

At the end of this experiment, he was amazed that he didn’t have to go to the emergency room.

In all seriousness, while Mino’s video is an interesting and, at times, silly watch, caffeine consumption isn’t something to play around with.

The FDA has found that rapid consumption of 1,200 mg of caffeine can lead to toxic and detrimental effects like seizures.

So be careful out there, folks, and drink your favorite caffeinated beverages wisely.
