His Wife Racked Up $150,000 In Debt, So He Loaned Her The Money, But She Freaked Out On Him In Front Of Her Friends When He Said She Can’t Go On A Trip With Them Since It’s Not In Her Budget

This man and his wife never completely combined their finances with one another, but they do have a bank account that they share.
He contributes about 3/4ths of the money in that shared account, while his wife adds the remaining 1/4th of the money to it with her salary.
This bank account is used to pay for their groceries, utilities, and mortgage. They each have separate bank accounts where the remainder of their money goes, and they also pay for their own cars and investments.
This arrangement worked great for them for several years, but then not too long ago, his wife came to him in tears.
“It turns out my wife is not good with her money and owes $150,000 spread over several credit cards and her car loan,” he explained.
“Unless she wins the lottery, there’s no way she would be able to pay off her debt and I didn’t want her to mess up her credit by declaring bankruptcy. I decided to loan her the money to pay off the debt under strict conditions.”
“I will take over her finances, including receiving her income. She will be placed on a strict allowance and budget. She will have to ask permission to buy anything over $50 and have to go by my judgment. Once she pays me back the money, she can take control of her own finances.”
His wife tried to argue with him, but he mentioned to her it’s not like he has $150,000 in cash simply sitting around.
To get this money, he has to sell off some assets, like his stocks, which are currently doing great. Loaning his wife this huge chunk of change will end up costing him money in the end.

Eventually, his wife relented and agreed to his terms. By the way, she literally spent $150,000 on her car, shopping, and going out to dinner with her friends.
Over the weekend, he and his wife attended a dinner party with some friends, and some of the women at the table mentioned they wanted to go on a trip together in a couple of weeks.
His wife asked him if she could go on the trip, but he told her she can’t since that is definitely not in her new budget.
His wife flipped out on him in front of everyone and called him a “pig who keeps her on a leash.” Despite that, he didn’t reveal the truth to everyone at the table that his wife racked up $150,000 in debt, as he wanted to protect her reputation while in the company of her friends.
“Some argued I should have bailed her out without conditions because there should be none in a marriage,” he said.
“The hurtful part is that she didn’t once defend me.”
He’s left wondering if he was wrong to put certain conditions on loaning his wife the money to pay off her debts.
