In a shocking twist, TikToker @jaypitts75 shared how karma clocked in for one of his former coworkers. This woman went from being his coworker, barking orders in the psychiatric ward, to a patient he had to take care of.

“Now, let me just start by telling you, this nurse was not nice,” he stated. “I’m a pretty agreeable person. I can work with most people, but she was somebody I dreaded working with. Why, you might ask? Because she was not nice to patients at all.”

According to @jaypitts75, she was mean, vindictive, and spiteful. It went far beyond just hating her job. He never really knew why she acted that way, especially since she lacked the physical strength to defend herself.

There were many times when she would antagonize a patient and then run into another room for safety, leaving the other workers to deal with the patient’s violent outburst. Oftentimes, someone would wind up getting hurt, or the patient would get unnecessarily medicated.

Also, nobody ever put her in check when she was on the phone with the doctor, asking for a medication to be drawn up for a situation that she created, and as a first-year worker, he never understood why.

After a couple of years at this facility, he got tired of how the place was run, so he decided to move on to another ward. One day, he came into work and saw his old coworker.

She had on regular clothes, so he thought she was there to visit someone. But then, he realized that it was not a visitation day and that she was wearing “grippy socks,” which meant she was a patient.

It turned out that she had developed a pill addiction after getting a divorce, and her daughter left for college. She didn’t recognize him because his hair was longer than when they had worked together.

“It was a very sad state of affairs up to that point,” he said.

“I haven’t seen anything like that, and all I can think as I looked at her, saw her going to group, saw her going to her room, was you used to be a person who antagonized patients and look down on people and took advantage of opportunities to use your power over them, and now, in your current existence, you’re a patient.”

Her downfall is a reminder that life has a way of humbling everyone. It was a haunting full-circle moment that shows you should always treat people the way you want to be treated because you never know when the tables might turn on you.

Empathy costs nothing, but cruelty comes at a price you’ll have to pay back with everything you have.
