When TikToker Cameron Luke (@lakeviewliving) and her brothers were put into foster care, they were only five, six, and seven years old.

Their father had left them in the care of his girlfriend to go work on an oil rig. To cope with the abuse she endured from him, his girlfriend self-medicated with alcohol and sleeping pills and nearly died.

The next morning, Cameron and her siblings missed the bus for school, so they decided to walk to school instead. They walked all the way to the end of a road and ran into a police officer at the intersection.

The officer asked them what they were doing on the side of the road. Cameron panicked and told him that they were going to get milk.

The cop drove them to the gas station and bought them a carton of milk. Then, he took them back home, where they found their dad’s girlfriend lying on the floor.

After that, Cameron and her brothers stayed in foster care until they were adopted by a couple. Their new mom and dad did everything they could to ensure they would have good futures.

So, they grew up, and 15 years later, Cameron got married and moved to California with her husband. One day, she received a random message on social media asking how she and her brothers were doing.

She thought it was someone from their hometown checking up on them because their adoptive parents were going through a divorce.

She answered back, saying everything was going great with them. Later that night, she showed her husband the message. The person’s name was spelled “Shealeiugh,” and the only possible way to pronounce that was “Sheila.”

Cameron only knew one Sheila, and she was her dad’s girlfriend who had nearly overdosed. It turned out the person who had messaged her really was Sheila.

She apologized to Cameron for what had happened all those years ago and went on to say that her dad had been treating her terribly.

Cameron never responded back to her because she was not ready to relive the trauma. She only told Sheila never to contact her or her brothers again.

Four years ago, Sheila died of an overdose. Cameron has finally forgiven her after years of therapy.
