According to TikToker @victoriangossipgirl, a historic ghost town in Mount Vernon, Kentucky, is currently on the market for $350,000.

Yes, for the cost of a modest home in the suburbs, you can buy an entire town. That’s a surprisingly affordable price, which means there must be a catch.

It sits on 25 acres and comes with 10 restored cabins. Alongside the cabins, the town includes a general store to sell your wares, an old church, a schoolhouse, a post office, a blacksmith shop, a salt house once used to preserve meat, a corn crib, which housed ears of corn for feeding livestock in winter, and a bunkhouse for cowboys.

The place is just dripping with old small-town charm.

“Now, obviously, you can turn this into a wedding venue or an Airbnb village or whatever, but my vote is to disappear for a while and come back with my own Appalachian ghost tales,” said @victoriangossipgirl.

Judging by the reaction online, people are more than ready to pack up, reinvent themselves, and start a quirky communal life in the Appalachian region of Kentucky.

Of course, there were also those who heard the word Appalachia and immediately turned down the opportunity, but for the most part, everyone was on board.

Thousands of TikTok users flooded the comments, assigning themselves imaginary roles in the town and outlining their potential contributions.

“I can crochet many, many things, and I have a vast yarn collection. I’m also an electrician and have worked with solar panels. Not bad at gardening and cooking. I have a survivable knowledge of Appalachian plants and animals. Partner is MD (though very useless in other practical skills),” wrote one user.

“Hey, so could you consider me for the church position. I’m an ordained minister, and I promise to take on any ghost problems,” commented another.

“What is the buy-in? I’m ready. I was married to a contractor for 11 years. I have tons of skills. Experience with horses and chickens. Some gardening, lots of struggle recipes. Let’s thrive!!!!” exclaimed a third.

“Can I be the guy who denies the supernatural events going on despite seeing the so-called supernatural events multiple times?” someone else questioned, because no ghost town would be complete without that one skeptical character.

If the town were ever repopulated, it would be the most chaotic and entertaining little community to exist. With everyone pitching in a few hundred dollars, perhaps they could make it a reality.

But for now, the ghost town remains on the market, waiting for someone with money to snatch it up. Whether it becomes a business venture or a creative project, one thing’s for sure: whoever buys this place will have stories to tell…if they live to tell them.
