On December 12, two days after their 20-year anniversary, TikToker Kristian’s (@kristianw1210) husband sent her a text, asking for a divorce while he was at work. In the text message, he told her that he was unhappy and wasn’t in love with her anymore.
Later that night, she received a message from someone at around 11:30 p.m. That was when she found out that her husband was having an affair with a coworker.
It was the coworker’s husband who had messaged her.
When her husband got home that night, she asked him if there was someone else, and he said no. He did not consider himself to be having an affair because they had never actually slept together yet.
He is currently still living in the marital home but is working on finding a place to move into. They plan on selling their house.
“Until then, I’d like to keep things cordial,” said Kristian. “The last thing I want is a huge messy divorce, and I know people change during divorces, and it’s really scary, which is the only reason I am making sure I am protected with a lawyer.”
Kristian has been a stay-at-home mom for the majority of the 20 years they have been together. They have 14-year-old twins and a 19-year-old in college.
She is now looking for a job so she can support herself and her kids. She is optimistic about her future and is looking forward to a new beginning.
“20 years is a long time to just throw it all away,” she wrote in the caption of her video. “But this mama is going to rise up and find peace and happiness.”

In the comments section, many TikTok users offered support and words of encouragement, praising her for her strength during this tough situation. Others shared about the times they dealt with divorce due to a cheating ex.
“Mine left after 30 years. I am better financially because he was controlling. An attorney is a must. My ex was surprised that all the money wasn’t his. You will do great,” stated one user.
“I was married 19 years when my ex left me for someone younger. Ten years later, I found the love of my life, and life is great,” declared another.
“My wife of 19 years and 11 months was having an affair, and I found out on December 7! Still in the house, trying to sell! I feel your pain,” chimed in a third.
“My husband asked for a divorce after 15 years, and that was 23 years ago. It was so hard with three kids. I have now been married to the most amazing man for 22 years now. It doesn’t seem like things will get better, but I promise you it will,” added someone else.
