Moving in with your partner for the first time is supposed to be exciting, and for him, it was, right up until his girlfriend decided she had a problem with how much he eats. Now, less than a month in, they’re having blowout fights over ravioli.

This man and his girlfriend moved in together last month, and he was hoping it was going to be amazing, since their relationship has been completely perfect.

They’re in love, they have hobbies that are similar, and they’re passionate about their dogs. So, moving in with her seemed like the best next step.

Yesterday, they got into a blowout fight, and this is the first time they’ve experienced strife since dating. His girlfriend is under the impression that he eats too much food, and they can’t find a resolution.

As soon as they moved in with one another, they went grocery shopping. He picked up 18 eggs, and his girlfriend was taken aback, thinking they wouldn’t go through that much. He made a joke it wasn’t actually enough for him.

“She said okay, she’ll just have to bake something. She was shocked by how much we spent, and I reminded her that we are two people now and paid for all the groceries,” he explained.

“On my day off, she saw that I used six eggs to make scrambled eggs for breakfast, and she couldn’t believe it. I told her not to worry, that I can run by the store and get more eggs tomorrow if we run out. She thought it was ridiculous to eat six eggs’ worth of scrambled eggs, but she accepted my promise to buy more eggs.”

His girlfriend has addressed being upset over his food intake on a couple of different occasions. On Sunday, he went grocery shopping, and he picked up a bag of frozen ravioli that was on sale.

Yesterday, after returning home from work, he made the ravioli and ate the whole bag. His girlfriend got home from work after him and said they could get a pizza for dinner. He agreed.

His girlfriend commented that he had to be ravenous, but he told her he had the ravioli. His girlfriend wanted to know if it was the whole bag, which he confirmed.

His girlfriend was upset that he ate all of the ravioli when the bag says the serving size is for four people. He pointed out to his girlfriend that he was hungry, but she shut down and said they shouldn’t get dinner anymore.

She also kept repeating that he had enough ravioli for four people, so she didn’t understand why he was still hungry. They kept going around in circles, and he went out to grab pizza, even though his girlfriend insisted he shouldn’t.

“I got her favorite pizza (spinach alfredo) and mine (regular with onions and jalapeno). She ate her pizza, but she also said she was upset that I was ‘forcing myself to eat to prove a point,’ and that she just wants me to stop being so ‘greedy and impatient,'” he added.

“She said she wants to share meals with me like a normal couple. She said we should have been able to split one pizza. I just don’t get it. If I’m hungry and there is food, I am going to eat. If there is something she wants to save, tell me. I won’t eat that. But I will eat something. I’m not going to go hungry. Am I [a jerk] for that?”

“…I am 6’2″, 192lbs, and my job is very physical (sometimes). I run with our dogs a lot, and I work out a lot. I am not fat. Most of my weight is muscle. We do not have shared finances. When I buy food, [I’m] paying for it. I try to go to the grocery store twice a week, so I buy most of the food. Since I eat way more than [she does], this feels fair to me.”

He’s not a jerk, but his girlfriend sure is. Everyone eats differently; it’s as simple as that. Since his job can be physically demanding and he’s very active, she should be sympathetic to his food intake.

Also, since it’s not like she has to pay for all of the extra food he’s eating, why does she care so much? He should find another girlfriend because she sounds nasty, overbearing, and exhausting.
