It’s nice to be treated to a fancy meal at an expensive restaurant, but that didn’t happen to TikToker Amber (@amber.marie.ugc). She met a guy on a dating app, and they chatted for a while before meeting up.

He asked her out to dinner at a place in the city. She lived about 40 to 45 minutes away from the city, so it was a far drive for her. The restaurant was only five minutes from his place.

However, he was really excited about it because it was a bookstore/restaurant, and she had told him that she loved to read. So, she agreed to meet him there.

Unfortunately, she had forgotten to look at the menu beforehand. Every entree was at least $30.

Amber assumed that he would be paying since he had picked the spot. The date was a little awkward because they didn’t have much to talk about. She also felt a lack of chemistry with him.

They both ended up getting a drink, which added $12 each to the total. When the check came, he grabbed it. The total was around $120.

He handed his credit card to the server. About three minutes later, the server returned to inform him that his card had declined.

Apparently, he only had a debit card. He didn’t own a credit card, even though he was at least 24, which Amber found odd. He insisted that the server try the card again, and he was behaving rudely.

Amber just sat there, knowing that it was up to her to pay for dinner. He promised to send her the money later. After paying, they left the restaurant. He walked her to her car and gave her a hug.

Later, he texted her, saying that he had a really great time and wanted to see her again. She started to think that maybe she should give him another chance.

While she was at work, she received a payment from him for dinner and was pleasantly surprised until she realized that he had only sent $60, which was half of the bill.

“If you plan the date, and I drive 45 minutes to be there to meet you for a first date, you should pay for my meal,” said Amber. “If you disagree, you’re crazy. Needless to say, I did not see that man again.”

One night, she got drunk and responded to his text, asking if he could take her out again. She asked him if he could pay for her dinner. He offered to send her the rest, but it just didn’t happen. They never spoke again after that.

It was the worst date she had ever been on because the whole time, he claimed that he had a lot of money, yet he wasn’t willing to cover a simple meal.
