Lu & Chan (@lu.and.chan on TikTok) are a couple documenting what their day-to-day lives are like living in New York City. Lucy is the Lu part of their name, and her husband Chandler is the Chan.

Lucy gave birth to their daughter earlier this month, and she documented the swanky Chanel gift bag she received at the hospital where she delivered her little bundle of joy, called the New York-Presbyterian Alexandra Cohen Hospital for Women and Newborns at Weill Cornell Medical Center.

The New York-Presbyterian Alexandra Cohen Hospital for Women and Newborns at Weill Cornell Medical Center is widely considered to be one of the best hospitals to give birth at in New York City, and it’s located on the Upper East Side.

The Chanel gift bags that the hospital gives out have gone viral in the past, and Chanel gave a $1.5 dollar endowment to the New York-Presbyterian Alexandra Cohen Hospital for Women and Newborns at Weill Cornell Medical Center back in 2004, which is when the hospital began handing out the Chanel gift bags with full-size products inside.

“This is a unique collaboration between one of the world’s pre-eminent fashion and beauty houses and a renowned academic medical center,” the press release announcing the endowment stated.

“The award will recognize NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell physicians and scientists for outstanding achievement in obstetrics and gynecology and will make possible a special gift of cosmetic and skin care products to all women who give birth at the Medical Center.”

Reportedly, it costs around $35,000 to $36,000 to give birth at this hospital, and after Lucy was given one of the Chanel gift bags, she opened it up on TikTok to share with everyone.

“As soon as you give birth, they give you a Chanel gift bag. Let’s see what’s inside. I’ve heard that there are some women who want to deliver here because of this, that was not my experience,” Lucy explained in her video.

“Personally, I just wanted to deliver at this hospital because you do get a guaranteed private recovery room; not every hospital in New York City has that. First thing is this lip balm. Nothing says, ‘I gave birth,’ like a little Chanel lip balm.”

Lucy then asked Chandler if the color looked weird, and he replied that it looked just like her normal lip color. Next, Lucy pulled out a hand cream shaped like an egg that Chandler remarked was cute and smelled like newborns.

And finally, Lucy unveiled the third product, which she thought was a lotion but had no scent and felt like hand sanitizer, so my money is on it being a facial cleanser.

“Well, that wraps up our haul. I don’t think it’s worth delivering at this hospital just for this bag, but it’s kind of cute. It’s the most New York thing ever to have Chanel sponsor your hospital. So crazy,” Lucy concluded.
