These Stained Glass Sugar Cookies Are A Work Of Art And Here’s How You Can Make Them
It’s not Christmas without Christmas cookies, and this year won’t be the year we stop baking them. If you want to make a treat that everyone will love, try these stained glass sugar cookies. Fans of the favorite childhood candy, Jolly Ranchers, will instantly admire the cookies.
A TikToker named Amy (@constellationinspiration) has an easy-to-follow recipe for you, and she can promise that you’ll get a ton of oohs and ahh’s after you show off the coolest cookies ever. You’ll need the following:
-1/4 cup of granulated sugar
-A lemon
-2/3 cup of unsalted butter, room temperature
-1 large egg yolk
-2 teaspoons of vanilla
-1 1/3 cups of all-purpose flour
-1/4 teaspoon of salt
-Jolly Ranchers, crushed
First, preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Next, zest the lemon over a bowl of granulated sugar.
Rub the lemon zest and sugar together with your fingers until it’s fragrant.
In a large bowl, combine butter and the lemon/sugar mixture. Mix the ingredients until you have achieved a smooth consistency.
Then, add in egg yolk and vanilla and mix until combined. Now, add flour and salt and continue mixing until the ingredients have dissolved.
After that, put lay out a piece of parchment paper and place the dough on top of it. Cover the dough with a second piece of parchment paper and roll it out until it’s 1/4 inch thick.
If the dough is still too soft at this point, Amy recommends sticking the dough in the refrigerator for fifteen minutes to let it firm up.
Using holiday-themed cookie cutters, stamp out some shapes onto the dough. Then, using a smaller cookie cutter, stamp cut-outs in the center of each cookie.
Transfer the cookies to the baking sheet and fill each cookie’s center with crushed Jolly Ranchers.
Put the cookies in the refrigerator or freezer to allow the candy to harden. Finally, bake them for ten to fourteen minutes.
The cookies should be a light golden brown at the edges by the time they’re done.
This part is optional, but you can decorate the cookies with royal icing by drawing on the stained glass portion of the cookie.
At last, you’ve got stained glass sugar cookies that create a stunning windowpane effect. You’ll be delighted with how beautiful they turn out!
