She Claimed That Her Stepmom Was No Better Than A High School Bully After She Was Compared To Her “Golden Child” Cousin Again And Told She’ll Never Make As Much Money
This 24-year-old woman believes that her stepmother is a narcissist. And this all ties back to how she was treated during childhood.
While growing up, her stepmom would always find new creative ways to put her down and compare her to her biological cousin, as well as her stepmother’s nephews.
Her cousin, however, was the real kicker– since they were seen as the “golden child” in her stepmom’s eyes.
In fact, she was actually told to be less like herself and more like her cousin. That’s why she grew up feeling extremely self-conscious and very embarrassed of any failures.
And even now that she is 24, the comparisons have continued happening. But, after the most recent incident, she finally stood up for herself.
It all began when she went home to visit her family over Thanksgiving. And it just so happened that her cousin decided to go, too, since they were attending a local nursing school.
“The whole time, my family was fawning over my cousin in front of me like she’s the next coming of Christ, yet nobody bothered to acknowledge me,” she recalled.
She genuinely cannot understand that, either, since she is currently attending graduate school for math. Still, for whatever reason, the fact that her cousin is a nurse seemingly “takes the cake” in her family.
Anyway, later that evening, she was hanging out with her family in the kitchen when her stepmother started to “kiss her cousin’s donkey” again.

At that point, her stepmom was apparently going on and on about how her cousin was going to earn so much money.
Then, her stepmom had the nerve to turn to her and say, “Too bad you’ll never make as much as her in your lifetime!”
That simply was not true, though, so she tried to explain how the majority of the professors in her department actually make salaries well into the six figures. She has even seen the numbers herself.
Regardless, her stepmother just kept gaslighting her and telling her that she was wrong.
So, she eventually got fed up and tried to put her stepmom in her place. More specifically, she claimed it was completely ridiculous to compare her to her cousin on the basis of money instead of realizing that they both just wanted to help people through their important professions.
Still, even after she said that, the rest of her family just stared at her blankly, and no one bothered to stick up for her or just tell her stepmom to chill out.
That’s why she ultimately decided to just head back upstairs to finish up the rest of her schoolwork.
But unfortunately, it became clear that her stepmother was not done stirring up drama. Later on, her stepmom went upstairs and “smugly” asked if she needed any help.
She tried to stay civil, too and just told her stepmother “no” before continuing to do her work.
Her stepmother decided to keep going, however, and began instigating an argument with her– claiming that she was being disrespectful and that she treated her dad horribly.
So, she was forced to stand up for herself again, pointing out how her stepmom had embarrassed her in front of their entire family and ruined another get-together for her.
Then, she even took it up a notch and referenced some of her stepmom’s past trauma.
“I called my stepmom a bully to her face and told her that she is no better than those girls who tormented her throughout high school if she even thinks her behavior toward me is acceptable,” she revealed.
Now, for context, her stepmom had been horribly bullied by classmates while growing up. In fact, other girls used to stuff dead animals in her stepmom’s mailbox and even call her pretty vulgar names.
So, after she called her stepmom out like that, her stepmom was completely stunned. Then, she watched as her stepmom ran downstairs in tears.
Still, in terms of calling her stepmom a bully, she thought it was justified.
“I don’t think it’s fair that she’s taking this pain out on me since I had absolutely nothing to do with it,” she reasoned.
Nonetheless, ever since comparing her stepmom to old high school bullies, she’s been left wondering whether that made her a real jerk or not.
