Back in 2015, TikToker Jordyn (@jordyntite) dated the now-convicted murderer, Trenton Frye, for six months. In October 2022, he murdered his ex-girlfriend, Katlyn Lyon Montgomery, after she broke up with him.
Jordyn received the news while she was hosting a dinner party. Her mom sent her a bunch of screenshots and pictures of Trenton. He had been sentenced to life in prison for murdering his ex-girlfriend in her sleep next to her four-year-old daughter.
“My heart goes out to Katlyn’s family and her daughter, her mom,” said Jordyn. “Everything was very relatable to the relationship I had with him, too.”
“There was never any abuse, but toward the end, when I began to distance myself, he became too much and was threatening to self-harm, and so that was scary at the end of our relationship.”
They had been in a long-distance relationship. She was in Indiana, and he was in North Carolina, 11 hours away. It’s hard to think about the fact that she could easily have been the victim as well. She believes the distance might have saved her.
“I really think he just snapped at the end because Katlyn was trying to do the right thing,” said Jordyn.
“She was just trying to protect herself and her daughter by calling him out on his lies and just separating herself from him, and he could not handle that.”
Jordyn never thought he would have been capable of murder, but now she realizes how unstable he was. In the comments section, several TikTok users shared similar heartbreaking stories.
“Having a direct connection to an absolute animal is very shocking! My ex’s brother is sitting in prison. FBI & center for child exploitation followed him for a very long time. His wife had no idea. I remain friends with her, but the shock hits you. Kind of makes you question your interactions with them,” commented one user.

“My ex tried to kill his wife (and mother of his children) and then tried to hire a hitman from prison to kill her and her mom. When people say they have a crazy ex, they usually really don’t. I know how you feel,” shared another.
“A guy I grew up around, all the way through high school, lived two streets behind me, was even one of my elementary school boyfriends, shot and killed his girlfriend. They had just left dinner at his mom’s house, and moments later showed back up, saying she’d been shot. First, he said the gun accidentally went off when he was getting in the car, but the evidence showed it had been pressed directly to her chest, so he then claimed he was playing around and didn’t think there was a bullet in it,” added a third.
