Working on loving yourself and building self-esteem is so important in life; otherwise, we end up accepting the bare minimum (or less than that) in relationships.

Speaking of things we accept, would you be down to sleep over at your partner’s place if they had roaches as pets and someone that they and all their friends previously slept with lived there too?

So, this girl’s boyfriend has a pretty disgusting living situation, and she will not stay over at his house because of that.

“…This girl my BF knows slept with all the guys in his group, and for some reason, my boyfriend had no issue sleeping with her either,” she explained.

“Now this girl is dating my BF’s roommate, and she’s always staying at their place, and I just…don’t feel comfortable being there. I’m not judging her more than I’m already judging him, but I just don’t want to be a part of whatever that dynamic is.”

“In addition, my BF has German roaches and a plastic wrapping on his mattress from when he had bed bugs a year ago. He’s [angry that] I never want to stay over, even though I live alone in a nicer place, and [he] thinks I’m being unfair.”

Her boyfriend actually told her to her face that he does not think that they are compatible because she’s unwilling to sleep over at his house.

She doesn’t believe it has dawned on her boyfriend how bizarre and gross his living situation actually is. She did think about trying harder to make her boyfriend happy, before realizing that her self-esteem is in the toilet and she shouldn’t put up with all of this.

To be fair, her boyfriend is doing everything in his power to eradicate the bugs, but she just can’t get over the girl living with all of them and how they all hooked up with her.

She actually has reserved judgment on this chick, but she does judge her boyfriend for telling her about how he and all of his friends slept with her, then not getting why she felt upset to be told the news.

“I hope whoever is reading this has the capacity to understand that we all make excuses for some insane [stuff] if we don’t love ourselves enough. That’s where I’m at right now,” she continued.

Anyway, after thinking it over, she dumped her boyfriend for being immature and a jerk.

Ew is all I have to say. I think that one word sums this all up perfectly, but let me elaborate a little: the bar is so low she could seriously trip on it and hurt herself, so she needs higher standards for the next man she dates.

I understand that the housing market is rough right now, but the roaches alone are an enormous issue, especially since it’s pretty easy to get them, meaning who knows when they might show up uninvited in her own home because her now ex-boyfriend has an infestation?

Step one: don’t date men with bugs as pets. Step two: also steer clear of guys who sleep with the same girl his friends have all hooked up with, because that’s repulsive, too.

Life is too short to date men like this guy, but good thing she’s done with him, because that gives her the freedom to do better next time.

Do you think that was the right call for her to dump her boyfriend? Did the roaches or the live-in girlfriend bother you the most?
