In college, TikToker Bailey (@baileyjenna) matched with a guy on a dating app, and he happened to be the athletic trainer at her school. Looking back, she’s not even sure if he was allowed to go out with students in the first place.

When he picked her up for their first date, he scooped her up and spun her around. She didn’t know how to feel about that, especially since it was their first time meeting.

Then, he asked where she wanted to go, immediately putting the responsibility of planning on her shoulders. She was a little put off by the fact that he hadn’t already come up with some ideas beforehand. She suggested that they go to an Italian restaurant near campus, and they headed over.

He asked her to wait in the car while he went inside to look at the menu. She was confused as to why he didn’t simply look up the menu on his phone, but she just sat in the car and waited patiently.

When he returned to the car, he declared that he didn’t like anything on the menu and wanted to go somewhere else.

So, they decided to drive to a nearby Chinese restaurant. Once they sat down, Bailey expected the usual first-date conversation. However, her date had a different request.

He asked her to take candid photos of him throughout the date because he needed some new pictures of himself.

Rather than getting to know each other, Bailey suddenly found herself functioning as a personal photographer. As if that wasn’t odd enough, she watched him meticulously pick apart the fried rice he had ordered.

He separated the rice from the peas, corn, and egg, as if he were conducting some sort of strange science experiment.

After they paid the bill, he asked if they could take pictures down by the water near the sailing house at the school, to which she agreed. She figured that the evening was already unusual enough that she might as well see it through.

The whole experience was more like a spontaneous photo session than a romantic outing. Not only did he use Bailey for free photography services, but he may even use the pictures she had taken to spruce up his dating profile.

“So, he dropped me off back at my dorm, and I’m like, I have to see him because he works at the school,” said Bailey. “Then, I avoided going to the gym for a while. So, that was it. That was the weirdest date.”

All in all, the date wasn’t necessarily disastrous, although it was certainly bizarre. It was the kind of bad date that turns into a story you tell for years because nobody would believe it actually happened if they hadn’t witnessed it for themselves.
