Her Aunt Picked Up A Hitchhiker Who Had His Ex-Girlfriend's Body In The Suitcase He Put In Her Car

TikToker Lexi (@thatheadbandgirl2) is telling the terrifying story of when her aunt picked up a hitchhiker in the 1970s, and while that's something pretty much none of us would do in this day and age, it was pretty common back then.

Lexi's aunt was 19 or 20 at the time, and she was driving from Spokane, Washington, to Mesa, Arizona. In between Washington and Utah, her aunt stopped to pick up a man who was hitchhiking.

"Her stranger danger radar really wasn't going off; like, he didn't seem like he was the type [to do what] she later found out about him," Lexi explained in her video.

"He was clean; all he had on him was...a backpack and a suitcase. And he was, like, really bubbly, and nothing about him seemed off."

Lexi's aunt stopped and asked if she could help get him somewhere, and he responded that he was trying to make it to Tempe, Arizona.

Lexi's aunt replied that she was going that same way and said she could get him to his final destination. The man offered to give Lexi's aunt money for gas.

Lexi's aunt told him to get in her car, and he did. The whole drive down to Arizona was pretty great. Lexi's aunt and this man got to know one another; they listened to music, stopped to get food, and shared stories.

"At one point, they even shared a motel room because my aunt got too tired to drive. Why he didn't start driving, I don't know, but regardless, they ended up spending a night in a hotel together," Lexi added.

"So my aunt gives him the number where she's going to be staying; she's like, 'Hey, you know, call me sometime...let's go out on a date. This was really fun.'"

The man said he absolutely would call her, and several weeks went by without Lexi's aunt hearing from him at all. Lexi's aunt pretty much forgot about him, but one evening, she received a phone call from him.

Lexi's aunt picked up and mentioned she had been waiting for him to phone her before asking what the holdup had been. The man revealed to Lexi's aunt that he was really struggling with something and wanted to confess to her before taking his own life.

Lexi's aunt tried to get him to talk to her and reconsider the decision, but the man firmly stated that there was no hope left for him. Lexi's aunt still attempted to get him help, but he asked her to just listen.

"He tells her that suitcase that he had with him had his ex-girlfriend's body in it, and that he had killed her the night before, and that when my aunt rolled up on him, he planned on killing her and taking her car," Lexi continued.

"But she was so nice to him; he changed his mind. And he made her promise him that she would never pick up another hitchhiker again. And she never did."
