This twenty-six-year-old woman has been with her fiancé, who is twenty-eight, for about three years now.

And, for context, they both have jobs that pay them the same salary and have agreed to keep their finances separate until they get married.

However, she claims that her fiancé never really holds up his financial end of the relationship.

For instance, her fiancé never pays when they go out to dinner. On top of that, he apparently never contributes funds for any repairs in the apartment or for any furniture or home items.

And to be honest, constantly being forced to foot the bill really began to piss her off. So, she decided to have a conversation with her fiancé, but he did not really get it.

In fact, he just tried to excuse his actions by claiming that he was trying to save up money. She pointed out, though, how he has already been “saving up” for two years now.

Plus, he obviously has money to spend since he is always treating himself.

“He still has half of his salary, which he uses on himself and buys gadgets and gaming stuff,” she explained.

“And when I try to argue about it, he would say it’s his money after all and remind me of how he is saving up to buy an apartment for us.”

So, she was kind of forced to bite her tongue and go along with everything. But, this past week, that all changed.

It all began a few days ago when her fiancé called and asked her to take him to the hospital. Apparently, his ankle had been hurting him for weeks, but he only decided to finally get it checked out now.

Anyway, she agreed to take her fiancé and stay with him in the hospital since he was in pain. After the consultation, though, her fiancé totally shocked her when he actually asked her to foot his entire hospital bill.

She was understandably confused and asked why he didn’t just pay for it. But, yet again, her fiancé used the “saving money for the apartment” excuse. And she was pretty furious.

So, she ended up just refusing to pay for it. After a while, though, her fiancé then tried to threaten her by saying that he would not put her name on the new apartment’s title if she did not “help him out.”

By that point, she just could not believe her ears anymore and just snapped. She told her fiancé that he needed to buck up, pay for himself, and stop using the apartment as an excuse to take advantage of her finances before storming out of the hospital.

That left her fiancé in the hospital, alone, and forced him to cough up the change for his own medical bill. However, he still could not understand why she was so frustrated, to begin with.

Instead, he actually accused her of letting him down in a time of struggle and even said that her attitude was not “partner material.”

She did not let him get away with those comments, though, and fired back about how he had been using their dream of getting a new place to just spend all of her own hard-earned money.

But regardless, her fiancé did not stop trying to make himself seem like the victim.

“He said I had no empathy or sense of responsibility to support and help him out when he is doing me a huge ‘favor’ by buying me an entire freaking apartment!” she recalled.

So, anyway, now she and her fiancé have been feuding ever since. He keeps calling her selfish and negative; meanwhile, she has no idea how he cannot see the situation from her perspective.

Despite her own beliefs, though, she has also been left feeling kind of guilty and is not sure if refusing to pay her fiancé’s hospital bill was the wrong way to handle the situation.

Why do you think her fiancé refuses to pay for anything? Is his behavior a major red flag in their relationship? How would you have reacted if your partner had done the same thing?
