Recently, TikToker Mikayla (@mikaylacapps) went on two dates with a guy she describes as the Ted Bundy of Charleston. The first date was fun.
He had seemed very kind and respectful. He talked about his family and even covered the bill. There were no red flags that she saw during the date or the week after. He texted her normally and did not harass her at all.
When the weekend rolled around, he was adamant that they hang out. She told him that she had a busy weekend because her mom was in town.
But he just said that he would see her on Sunday at 3 p.m. On Sunday, he kept calling and texting her nonstop while she was hanging out with her mom.
After her mom left, she finally texted him back and tried to cancel. He refused to cancel their date and suggested that they just get a pizza and hang out at his house if she was too tired. Mikayla didn’t want to go to his house, but she was willing to drive there and then go out to a restaurant.
“So, that’s exactly what I do,” she said. “I drive over there, I get out, come inside, meet his dog, and then we walk to wherever we’re going. As we’re walking there, he starts saying over and over again, like, you’re so beautiful, to the point where instead of saying thank you, I started saying, I know, I know.”
Throughout the night, he kept asking her why she didn’t look happier to be with him, which annoyed her because she had already said she was tired.
She could tell that things weren’t going to work out with him. He might’ve sensed this because he started pounding down drinks. He began blurting stuff out about how much money he made and how well-endowed he was.
She wanted to leave, and of course, she was met with a little pushback, but he eventually agreed. As they walked back to his house, she realized that she had left her keys inside his house. He convinced her to stay for a beer.

They were sitting on the back deck with their beers when he suddenly grabbed hers right out of her hand and drank it. Then, he took her hand and bit her pinky finger.
She yanked her hand away and demanded to know why he had done that. He proceeded to pretend like he didn’t know what she was talking about.
Just as she was about to leave, he revealed that he was charged with rape four years ago. She questioned him about the incident, and the more she pressed him, the more lies she caught him in.
When she started calling him out about the lies, he told her that he had a gun to his head two days ago and was planning to take his own life, but he didn’t because of her. He then told her that he loved her and burst into tears.
Mikayla comforted him briefly and asked if he had a therapist because it was time for her to go. As she stood up, he grabbed her arm, scratching it in the process. She ran to her car and locked the doors immediately. He tried to stop her from getting in and threw a fit.
She sped out of there and called her mom. While she was on the phone with her mom, he kept calling and texting her. When she got home, she packed some bags and left in case he showed up at her house.
“Unfortunately, I’m an idiot, and I let this man pick me up from my house on the first date, so he knows where I live,” Mikayla said.
“So, I spent the night at my friend’s house.”
The next day, he texted her an apology. She responded, saying that he didn’t seem to be in the right headspace for dating. Afterward, she decided to post him online to warn other girls about him. Almost immediately, a bunch of people interacted with her post and shared information about him.
“They posted his mugshots; somebody ran a background check on him,” she said.
“He has nine charges, four of which are …assault, two rape, and then two battery and assault of the third degree. Mind you, I Googled this man. I Googled him, and this wasn’t on there.”
Mikayla is convinced that this man will end up murdering someone because of how the severity of his crimes was slowly progressing. His behavior on their second date was also a clear sign. She is glad she made it out of his house alive.
