When TikToker Kacie (@moberryblast) was 19 years old, she matched with a guy on a dating app. They made plans to meet up at an ice cream shop and then go to her friend, Tamara’s, place to watch a movie.
She arrived at the ice cream shop first. The second he walked in, she could tell that he wasn’t her type, but she still wanted to see the date through to the end.
They ordered their ice cream and started chatting about their families and hobbies. He was a football player at the university in town and loved horror films/books.
“No matter how much I try to steer the conversation in a different direction, he just kept bringing it back to that,” Kacie said.
“And he keeps talking about his horror movies and all the gory details with me, and there’s just like this creepy little gleam in his eye when he spoke about it.”
There was nothing wrong with liking horror, but Kacie was weirded out by the way he was going on and on about it. At that point, she was ready to be done with the date. Finally, they finished their ice cream and headed to the parking lot to go to Tamara’s.
He didn’t have a car, so she planned to give him a ride to the movie and drop him off at his place later that night. As they walked back to her car, he tried to convince her to take him on a tour of the town.
He was very insistent, which made Kacie super uncomfortable. She firmly told him no and started driving to her friend’s place.
Her date was unhappy about that and glared at her in silence the whole way there. When they pulled up to Tamara’s place, she was not home from grocery shopping yet, so she told them to let themselves in. Kacie turned on the TV to get the movie going.

When Tamara arrived, she went down to help her with the groceries and spill all the details about how creepy this guy was. So, they started the movie, and Tamara pulled out a small salad she had bought.
Kacie’s date stopped watching the movie and stared at Tamara while she ate her salad. He then said he could watch her eat all day.
He also looked at the windows and began talking about how easy it would be for him to break in. When he went to the bathroom, the girls came up with a plan to make him leave.
Tamara told Kacie to drive down the road, park in front of the grocery store, and wait for her signal. She would tell the guy that Kacie had a family emergency and take him back home herself.
Afterward, Tamara described everything that had happened. He stayed in the bathroom for a while, but she heard no sounds of water running. It turned out that he had rummaged through her personal items, perfume, makeup, and toiletries.
Kacie spent the night at her place because they were scared he might break in. Tamara even slept with her baseball bat at her side. Two days later, Kacie received a text from a random number and realized that she had forgotten to block him.
“In the text, he starts going on about how he doesn’t usually let girls get away with things like this or that he couldn’t possibly be that bad, and then he proceeds to tell me that it doesn’t matter because I’m just nothing to him,” said Kacie.
She blocked him and didn’t hear from him again. A couple of months later, a mutual friend wanted to set Tamara up with someone. It was the same creepy football player. They told their friend to avoid that guy.
Overall, Kacie wishes she had ended the date right away and that she hadn’t been so afraid of being rude. She feels lucky that nothing else happened.
