Four years ago, this 34-year-old woman went through a traumatic event that sent her on a downward spiral. She sadly lost her mom to cancer, and after that, she began to gain a lot of weight.

Around this time, she also stopped being close to her 36-year-old husband, and things only got worse to the point where they aren’t physical at all and haven’t been since then.

Then, at the end of 2023, she started to experience anxiety attacks that would hit from out of the blue, and she was ultimately diagnosed with depression.

She is taking medication to treat this, but her mental health is still in a bad place, and she’s really struggling.

Two months ago, she and her husband hit the lowest point in their marriage to date, and he issued her an ultimatum: she has a year to drop all of the weight she’s put on and also work on herself, or he’s leaving her.

“He is giving me 1 year to fix all of this, or he says he also deserves happiness with someone who loves him, etc.,” she explained.

“I understand his intentions, but I can’t seem to shake the feeling that putting all responsibility on me is not right. Also, if he decides to leave, the blame can be put on me in an instant.”

“I am already having so many mental issues (and medicated) with self-esteem, fear of loneliness, trust issues, etc., and this ultimatum is not helping me with those.”

So, she has exactly a year to lose weight and improve herself, or her husband is going to walk away from their marriage.

“I am not sure what to do,” she said. “Of course, I want to lose weight and work on myself and my relationship, but I feel really uncomfortable with this ultimatum.”

What advice do you have for her?
