A 24-year-old guy began living with a 26-year-old girl 4 years ago. When they moved in together, he was still in college finishing up his degree, and he knew he would be able to work at a job making a lot of money after he graduated.

In the meantime, he didn’t have a job, as he was all-in on doing well in school so he could get that amazing job as soon as he finished up.

His roommate had a full-time job when he met her, and she ended up pitching in more financially throughout the years they lived together because she had the money, and he didn’t.

He had never once asked his roommate to pay his way, but to show his appreciation for her pitching in so much, he started picking up the majority of chores around the house as his way of contributing too.

A year after moving in with one another, the relationship he had with his roommate turned into more than just living together; they started hooking up too.

“She is not physically my type (plain, a bit overweight), but she is a great girl, and we both enjoyed our physical time together,” he explained.

“I recently graduated and have started on a very high wage, but this is based on my niche skill set that I worked so hard to acquire.”

“I have started going to work functions and met a gorgeous girl – smart and working close to my field.”

He asked this girl for her phone number, and she gave it to him. He began chatting with her, and one day they were on the phone together putting plans together to meet up when his roommate walked into the room.

She demanded to know what he was doing, and he hung up the phone with this girl before he asked his roommate what was going on.

His roommate stated that they “were a couple,” which completely and utterly shocked him.

He pointed out to her that they actually were nothing more than friends with benefits, but his roommate didn’t think that at all.

“…But then she started saying she supported my broke *** through college, and now I was earning six figures I was off to get a ‘better’ girlfriend,” he said.

“I don’t think I am clueless, but this completely blindsided me. We have separate bedrooms, I have never introduced her as my girlfriend to anyone, and I never thought we were a couple – it was a great arrangement for both of us, but it’s time for me to move on, and FWB is never permanent.”

He has turned to his friends to weigh in on this, and some of his guy friends are on his side. The guy friends on his side think that he’s attractive, and his roommate had to realize that he’s way out of her league.

Meanwhile, his female friends mentioned to him that they thought he and his roommate were really in a relationship, but it was something they just didn’t tell people about, and they were keeping it quiet for some reason.

His female friends think that he completely used his roommate, and they’re upset with him for finding a hotter girl to be with now that he has a big deal job making a ton of money.

“I think both she and I both made mistakes and assumptions, but I did pull my weight doing housework, and I never ever once said we were a couple, and she didn’t either,” he continued.

“I was going to move out shortly in any case now that I have a good cushion behind me, but I don’t want to end our friendship on this note.”

“I started paying half the rent immediately when I got my first paycheck and have still been doing the bulk of the housework.”

Do you think he used her, or do you believe that he and his roommate miscommunicated regarding what their relationship really was?
