She’s Wondering Where All The “Regular Men” Are After Sharing This Weird First Date Story

Let’s be real for a minute. The dating world has shifted drastically from what it used to be 70 years ago. Gone are the days of ice cream socials and school dances. Nobody is meeting the love of their life while jiving on the dance floor.

Online dating has taken off immeasurably since the pandemic in 2019, according to the Vanderbilt College of Arts and Sciences.

Online dating is now our new norm. Not many people meet for the first time in person. Usually, you’re swiping right online before you set up the first date.

But with this, online dating also brings its challenges and its dangers. TikToker @ktcoolll had experience with this phenomenon recently on a date. Luckily she wasn’t in danger, but it was borderline creepy.

“I just went on the worst date ever,” she said. “Like THE WORST date ever.”

As she explains in the video, she had a date set up with a guy, but on the day of, he kept changing the time for them to meet. They eventually decide on a time to meet up that night.

“I finally get to the garage,” she said. “He kind of like tries to get into my car, and I was like, ‘oh no, I’m sorry.'”

His behavior was immediately suspicious, especially since he had never met her before and was trying to get into her car without her permission.

“That was probably the first tick,” she said. “Literally, we walk around. I’m in heels, he’s walking fast. I tell him, ‘can you slow down a little bit?’. He’s already upset with me.”

This is where his behavior, and the situation, gets a little too creepy. His attitude is quickly becoming abrasive.

“[He] tries to take me to his apartment that I didn’t even know was here,” she explained. “And he’s like, ‘Oh yeah, I just need to charge my phone.’.”

She immediately was uncomfortable and let him know that, asking to just remain outside while he ran in on his own. She was enacting self-preservation in the event of a dangerous situation–something which he didn’t take kindly to.

“I don’t really know you, and I’m not about to go into someone’s apartment by myself thirty minutes away from my house. That just doesn’t sound safe, I don’t know you,” she said. “I don’t know why, but guys get so offended when you’re like, ‘you might be a murderer.'”

It’s totally understandable that on your first encounter with someone that you’ve never met before in your life that going up alone to their apartment at night is fuel for nightmares and horror films.

She wasn’t doing anything wrong, either, by saying no because she felt unsafe. Intentionally putting yourself in danger in a situation like this is a bad move to make–one that she could see ahead of time.

“I could be a murderer! You could tell me that, it’s fine! It’s a first date!” she said, annoyed at his reaction. “He tells me that I’m being too shy, too quiet.”

As if the date couldn’t get any worse, they end up at a restaurant for dinner. To top it off, he’s one of those customers who is rude to the wait staff– a major red flag.

When they’re turned away because they have no reservation, he tries to argue with the hostess.

“He goes, ‘We’re just trying to go to the bar! I know the owner!'” she said. “Interrupts her! Already a bad sign.”

He proceeds to argue with the hostess and ends up texting the owner while standing in front of the restaurant.

“He looks at the girl who’s telling him, no, and he goes, ‘What’s your name?’ as he’s texting the owner,” she explained. “That is so mean!”

When they can’t find another place to eat, he tells her they’re going back to his apartment–not expecting resistance to his suggestion.

“He literally says, ‘Let’s just go pregame in my apartment,'” she said. “I literally already told you this! Are you dumb?”

The end of the date comes upon them very quickly when he deserts her in the parking lot of his apartment complex. When he runs back up to his apartment, she decides to leave.

“I’m like, ‘Oh, he’s about to ditch me,” she said. “I started walking back to my car. He texts me like, ‘Sorry you’re too shy, this isn’t going to work out.'”

Luckily she had already made the decision to leave before he called it quits. She certainly dodged a bullet with this date.
