He Divorced His Ex-Wife After She Got Cancer And Cheated On Him, But Now, She Wants To Get Back Together
This 37-year-old guy was married to his ex-wife for 10 years when she was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer at just 33-years-old.
As you can imagine, this was extremely tough on his ex. But, after undergoing surgery, she was able to get through it.
He was also by her side the entire time– taking off work to look after her and be with her.
After going through something so major, though, he realized that his ex-wife had changed a lot. All of a sudden, she wanted to get more out of life.
So, she wound up quitting her nine-to-five job to start traveling and simply doing whatever she wanted.
In the beginning, he went with his ex-wife, too, because he just wanted to make her happy. Plus, her adventurous nature reminded him of his ex’s younger self.
However, it did not take long for his ex’s newfound lifestyle to tank their savings. At that point, he was forced to go back to work to essentially fund his ex-wife’s travels.
“While it was exhausting, I didn’t care that much because I loved her, and seeing her so happy and full of life after everything she went through was good enough for me,” he said.
But then, one day, he overheard his ex-wife talking on the phone with one of her friends. And during that conversation, she admitted to feeling unsatisfied with “just him” and claimed she actually wanted to hook up with other people, too.

This seriously shocked him– not just because he was there for her during some of her darkest moments but also because their physical relationship had been off the charts around that time. So, the comment was all around just horrible to hear.
Still, he didn’t say anything at the time. Instead, his ex-wife brought up the topic later in the evening on her own and proceeded to reveal how she wanted to be in an open marriage.
Since he overheard the discussion earlier that day, though, he had had enough time to think before his ex-wife dropped that bomb on him. More specifically, he knew that there was no way he would ever be okay with an arrangement like that.
Regardless, his ex went on to point out how he had been her first boyfriend– they met in high school– so she had never been with anyone else before. That’s why she wanted to try out being with different people.
But his ex-wife’s explanation did not matter. He still just told her point-blank that he would not be okay with that.
And while they did get into an argument about the issue, his ex eventually apologized and claimed that she would not do anything with anyone else.
Well, spoiler alert: that was a lie. Just a few weeks later, he caught his ex-wife cheating on him, and they wound up getting divorced.
“It was hard, and I was completely broken during the whole thing. It took me a long time to heal,” he explained.
“I couldn’t believe that, after everything, she could do that to us and throw away 10 years of marriage.”
Anyway, now, it has been nearly two years since he got divorced. But just yesterday, his ex-wife reached out to him and actually asked to meet up.
He was understandably reluctant at first. However, he eventually agreed to go, and seeing his ex for the first time in so long brought back a ton of memories.
First, they engaged in some small talk before his ex-wife cut to the chase– asking if he had been seeing anyone.
At that point, he revealed how he was still single. Then, his ex opened up about feeling like divorcing him was the largest regret of her life. Apparently, after they got separated, his ex went through a tough time and attempted to fill his “void” by seeing a bunch of other people. But, those efforts were futile and never truly worked.
That’s why his ex-wife wound up dropping a bomb on him and claiming that she wanted to get back together with him.
“She had actually been asking around about me before this, and when she found out that I hadn’t been with anyone since our divorce, she assumed I felt the same way,” he recalled.
Regardless, everything his ex said left him feeling completely dumbfounded. Afterward, he decided that he just needed some time to think.
Since then, he still has no clue what to do. On the one hand, there is a part of him that wants to believe that his ex-wife acted like that due to everything she went through with her diagnosis.
“But at the same time, I don’t think that’s an excuse,” he vented.
So now, he’s been left wondering whether he should at least give his ex-wife a chance to explain herself or save himself the heartache.
