His Wife Lied To Him About Being Pregnant As A Way To Keep Him In Her Life And Prevent Him From Moving On
This 28-year-old man met his wife, who is the same age as him, 7 years ago. His wife is the highlight of his life, and he truly loves her.
Even his friends and family members think she’s wonderful, and he doesn’t know a single soul who has a bad thing to say about his wife.
He and his wife also have a daughter who is now 2, and his wife is really thriving in her role as a mom.
“When we met, I had just graduated from college and was feeling generally aimless, though I knew I had to get out of the state we lived in,” he explained.
“Which is why when I met her, I didn’t pursue anything, though we both had very intense feelings for each other. We had something very similar to a relationship, and it was hard on both of us when I moved across the country for grad school. I knew I didn’t want to do long distance, it’s just nothing I had wanted to do with anyone.”
“I had to lock in with school almost immediately, and it was easy to keep moving forward. She had just graduated undergrad as well but was having a hard time finding work, so it was probably much easier for her to dwell on the heartbreak of our separation.”
In the few weeks after he left, they drifted apart. But then, one day, she reached out to him to see how he was doing before asking why they hadn’t been speaking that much.
He informed her that he had begun dating other women, and she took that news quite poorly.
The day after that conversation, she sent him an ultrasound photo, and his world was turned upside down.

She said the baby was his. He was so unbelievably stressed out that his grades started slipping. They decided not to go through with the pregnancy, and although he offered to help pay to take care of things, she would not allow him to.
He thought it was bizarre, but he didn’t ask any questions and said if she didn’t want his money, he could at least hop on a plane and be there with her for the procedure. She hesitated but ultimately said yes, and so he got on a plane and spent the weekend with her.
“Months passed, and I started seriously dating other people, but honestly, none of them were her,” he said. “When I came back for Christmas that year, I asked her to be my girlfriend, and we’ve been together ever since.”
“We like to have a little book club, and the book we read most recently was about a couple with a failing marriage who decided to tell each other everything they’d been keeping from each other. We decided to do the same. And this is how she told me. She confessed a couple of days ago, and I don’t even know how to feel.”
His wife admitted to lying about her pregnancy as a way to keep him in her life. She says she does not understand why she came up with the lie, outside of wanting to desperately prevent him from moving on and forgetting about her.
He’s shocked that his wife lied about something so major and then kept it a secret for years on end.
He doesn’t think his wife is lying about anything else in their life or marriage, and for some reason, he isn’t angry at her for her lie.
“I certainly don’t want to break up my family over this,” he continued. “But I just don’t know how to move forward and look at her the same way. How do I trust her after this?”
