Whether to split the bill on a first date is already a big debate in the single community. But what would you do if someone offered to cover the tab at a bar, then sent you a photo of the check later and said it was pricier than they expected?

That's precisely what happened to this man from Lisbon, who recently met a Swedish woman on Bumble. And from the start, things were a bit "off."

First of all, they supposedly didn't actually match with each other on the dating app. Instead, the woman claimed that one of her friends had matched with him, but she was interested in going out on a date with him instead.

That was all fine and well, too, because he found her extremely attractive. So, they decided to meet up at a bar to have some drinks, and their first date went on for hours.

"She talked quite a lot and, most of the time, in a not-so-humble tone, bragging about how she met and slept with football players and blah blah blah," he recalled.

"But she was also talking about other random stuff, which made it last around five or six hours."

At one point, they also decided to head to a different bar. That was when he headed inside to use the restroom and covered their tab at the first establishment, which came out to just over $45. He didn't mind paying, either, and when he returned to meet his date, she was so shocked that she offered to buy his next drink.

However, it was during their visit to the second bar that things began to take a strange turn. The woman started talking about how he wasn't "what she was expecting" and accused him of being "defensive" during their conversations.

"Which I can understand, because I'm not a person who opens up a lot the first time I meet someone," he admitted.

Regardless, the woman said that she'd be interested in going out with him again in another context, possibly without alcoholic drinks. And in his mind, this meant she was open to a second date.

"Then she just kept talking about dating and knowing people with money; boring. And she just was already giving me vibes of 'not very smart, very material,'" he detailed.

That's why, after a couple of more drinks, he decided to order an Uber home; meanwhile, his date wanted to stay at the bar to have another glass of wine, so she offered to cover the second bar bill.

Yet, by the time he arrived home, he received a shocking text. The woman had sent him a photo of the tab, which was around $36, and wrote that it was more than she expected.

He wrote back that he didn't understand what she was getting at and asked if she needed some money. But the woman just replied, "I think your bill was cheaper," before adding, "I already paid and it's all good, but [$36] for a first date."

According to him, he only ordered beer at the second establishment, which was around $15 compared to her $20 worth of drinks. Not to mention, the first bill he covered was more expensive!

"I don't even get what she is complaining about, and she blocked me everywhere," he revealed.

To be quite honest, he's not that shocked, either, since he thought she had an attitude. Still, he's been left questioning whether the woman is delusional or if he's somehow in the wrong.

How would you have responded to the text if you were in his shoes? Did he do anything wrong by not paying both tabs, especially since she offered to handle the second?
