Last week, TikToker Olivia Frescura (@oliviafrescura) stood a 37-year-old guy up on their second date, and she doesn’t feel bad about it.

For their first date, they went to a hockey game in Philadelphia. It wasn’t very romantic, but she had a fun time.

“I was getting friendly vibes, but I was kind of in a down mood, so I was like, let’s give this another chance,” said Olivia. “I wound up getting sick.”

“A lot of stuff was happening, and I was out of town, but he was communicative and wanted to do the second date.”

He asked her out to dinner and wanted to clarify with her beforehand if she was okay with splitting the bill. At first, she said it was fine because she was trying to be more open-minded. She knew a lot of women out there often used men for free dinners, so he probably just wanted to protect himself.

But the more she thought about it, the more she realized that if a guy wanted to date her, he would be willing to pay the full bill. She decided not to say anything about it.

After they agreed on a time to meet, he thanked her for being cool with splitting the bill. She finally admitted to herself that she was not okay with splitting the bill.

On the day of the date, she did not talk to him. That night, he texted her, letting her know that he was on the way.

She told him that she had fallen asleep because she had a really bad headache, which was true. So, the date was effectively canceled at the last minute, and he just headed back home.

Later, he sent her a sarcastic text message, calling her out for making him take the train for an hour after work.

From there, she blocked him because there was nothing else for her to say. Initially, she felt a little bad for standing him up, but after that last message, all bad feelings went out the window.

In the comments section, some people agreed that wanting to split a bill on a date is not the best look. It can feel transactional and low-effort.

“At least he meant the bill. I once had a guy ask me to literally split an entree. I ended up buying my own. So glad I never have to go on a first date again,” commented one user.

“This reminds me of when I went on a date with this guy who asked me to split the bill for an appetizer and my salad. He ate most of it. He was taking pictures. Like, how are you not embarrassed?” added another.
