Curate A Cozy Rest Corner For Relaxation Right In Your Own Home With These Tips

These days, with all the stressful situations going on in the world, we need to prioritize rest and relaxation.
Now more than ever, taking a moment to calm down, breathe, and relax is important, as many of us have been dealing with a lot of anxiety and stress since the world changed so drastically during the COVID-19 pandemic.
This is why it’s a good idea to create a ‘rest corner’ in your home, a soothing and calm space typically located in a cozy corner.
Well, just about any space is suitable for a relaxing moment. Having one designated spot in your home for peace and relaxation is extra special.
In your rest corner, you can sit in a chair or on the floor, meditate, or read a book. You can take a quick nap or even just stare into space for a bit.
If you think having one in your home would be a good idea, here’s how to assemble one.
First, I’d recommend choosing a space in your home for your designated rest corner that doesn’t get much traffic. For example, if you have a bunch of kids running around, putting a rest corner right next to your kitchen is probably a bad idea.
You don’t have to have a perfect little nook on the side of your living room to achieve a rest corner.
You can get creative by using a spot on your porch, a space under your stairs, or even a small space in your attic.

The possibilities for where to build your corner are endless, but just make sure it’s genuinely in a spot where you can get some peace.
Then, it’s time to start adding furniture and decor to make it easier for you to relax. For instance, think about some of your favorite ways to calm yourself down – do you like to sit on the floor in a crisscross position? Do you prefer sitting in a big comfy chair or lying on a bed?
When I picture a rest corner, I picture a lovely, comfy chair that can sit perfectly in the corner of a home and allows you to get extra cozy.
You can also add an ottoman for your chair and perhaps a small shelf to keep books, essential oils, or any kind of spiritual decor, like crystals, meditation, journals, etc.
If you have a decent amount of wall space in your designated rest corner, you could also hang up some artwork that makes you feel extra relaxed.
For instance, perhaps you have a painting of the beach that makes you feel peaceful just by looking at it or even a picture of some friends and family that warms your heart. Those are great things to keep in the rest corner.
You’ll also want to make sure you have some comfortable pillows and blankets nearby. You can neatly arrange them on your chair, daybed, or couch or set them aside in a nice basket.
Good lighting is another key element to building a nice, relaxing rest corner. If you can, I’d recommend picking a spot in your home near a natural light source for some calming sunlight or a darker spot that you can make a lot cozier through additional lighting via lamps and candles.
Following these basic steps will get you well on your way to creating a restful corner in your home that can help provide you with a much-needed break during your crazy week.
I’d highly recommend building a rest corner to see just how much it changes your life by calming you down. Good luck, and enjoy that much-deserved rest!
