It takes courage to stand up for what is right and call out men behaving badly, and in doing so, it entails putting your own comfort at risk.
If you knew about a man at your workplace manipulating and preying on female employees, would you call them out or keep quiet about it?
This woman has a job working as a bartender in a restaurant, and the manager got hired after she was already there. She ended up getting quite close to this guy and thought of him as a great friend to her.
While she adored her job, she unexpectedly left over some issues she was experiencing personally. Despite that, she stayed friends with her manager and spent a lot of time with him.
“I opened up to him about what was happening in my life and relationship. I was at a very low, dark place in my life, and he started asking me for [photos without my clothes on], offering to pay me for [those photos], and pay [for] me to come to his house,” she explained.
“I felt like he was trying to take advantage of me at a vulnerable time when I needed friendship and support. I ended up blocking him and trying to just move on.”
“That’s until other women [who] worked with him started to come to me to share what harassment they were enduring from him. He was offering money and preferred shifts in exchange for [photos of girls without clothes on] or dates.”
Her manager also asked an underage girl to go out with him for drinks, and when this girl said no, he punished her by giving her fewer shifts at the restaurant.
All of the girls who worked at the place were scared they were going to lose their jobs, and the manager made them wildly uneasy, too.

She and the rest of the girls decided to put everyone’s horror stories together in order to beg the husband and wife who owned the restaurant to fire their manager.
The couple didn’t fire the guy or dole out any consequences, so he kept on harassing the female employees. She did catch wind of the wife expressing interest in firing her manager, but the husband overruled her since her manager had been wonderful for their business.
“This is when I decided to make an anonymous post to my local Facebook group, ‘Are We Dating the Same Guy?’ These groups serve as a way for women to find out if their dating partner is dating other women, but also serve as a platform for women to share warnings of men who have mistreated them,” she continued.
“I posted his picture and wrote a warning to the women in our city about his actions as a restaurant manager. It spread quickly, and the owners fired him.”
“But not only did he lose his job, but the owners knew this post would make it hard for him to find another job in our town, and advised him to move somewhere else.”
Her manager returned to his hometown and picked up a different job there, working in a restaurant. The girls she used to work with wanted to know who had made the post, as it was anonymous, but she kept quiet about it.
She’s left wondering if she was a jerk to get her manager fired after how he treated or punished the girls who worked there.
Let’s be clear here: she didn’t get her manager fired; he got himself fired for mistreating the girls around him. I think she did the right thing, standing up and calling out a predator.
Facebook groups like the one she posted in exist in order to help protect women, and she did just that when her old coworkers couldn’t do anything to prevent what was happening to them.
And since the owners of the restaurant failed to act, she appropriately escalated a scary situation to get it resolved.
