During the summer of 2021, TikToker Emma (@lemmongem) encountered a skinwalker in Reno, Nevada. She had just graduated from high school, and it was a day or two before the Fourth of July. That night, she and her best friend went to get food and then drove to a viewpoint to eat in the car.
The viewpoint was an elementary school on top of a hill on the edge of town. Sometimes, the wildlife, including bobcats, coyotes, and bighorn sheep, would wander into the area from the vast desert lands and mountains where they lived.
“Most nights, especially in the summer when we would park here, there were a bunch of other cars with other teenagers,” said Emma.
“But on this specific night, [my friend and I] go up there, and there were no other cars. It was just our car.”
At around 10 p.m., they were sitting and eating when they suddenly heard fireworks coming from the surrounding neighborhoods. Initially, they didn’t think anything of it because it was almost the Fourth of July.
But then, a big truck with bright headlights roared into the parking lot and blocked them in. The driver rolled down his window and started yelling about how they were dumb teenage girls.
They rolled down their window to hear him better. He accused them of shooting guns. They tried to explain that they were doing no such thing and that they heard fireworks going off in the area.
Eventually, he drove away, and the two girls were left alone again. They were super freaked out by the whole incident, so they decided to go home. As they reached the base of the hill, their headlights shone on a bush that was about 15 or 20 feet away from the car.
Standing behind the bush was the body of a man with the head of a bighorn sheep. They saw the creature right in front of them, as clear as day.

It quickly ducked down behind the bush, but it was too late. The image was forever burned into their brains.
They were both in shock, and Emma’s friend refused to talk about it. She just continued driving. As they drove past one of the entrances to the nearby neighborhoods, the guy in the truck pulled out and started following them.
Emma was about to call the police, but her friend wanted to try losing this guy’s trail first. They kept driving through all the neighborhoods, but he was still on their tail. Finally, he stopped following them.
Her friend drove her back home, and once they parked, they got the chance to gather their thoughts. They discussed what they had seen, and both of their descriptions were the same.
Later, Emma tried to explain the story to her family, but they didn’t believe her.
“We either saw a literal creature, like a skinwalker that was the body of a man but the head of a bighorn sheep, or we saw an actual man running around an elementary school wearing a hyper-realistic mask of a bighorn sheep, which might be just as creepy,” said Emma.
To this day, Emma can’t drive past the elementary school without getting the chills.
