Babysitting is usually seen as a rite of passage. It’s an easy first job to earn a little extra cash. But every once in a while, babysitting can be a horrifying experience.
After a friend with a 14-year-old daughter told TikToker Bella (@bellatherealstorytella) a story about a freak incident that happened when she was babysitting, Bella has vowed never to let her own child babysit other kids when she gets old enough. It completely changed the way she views babysitting.
So, when her friend’s daughter, Donna, was babysitting last summer, some weird stuff occurred. At the time, Donna had been working for this family for about three weeks.
She was watching a little girl for two to three days a week. They got along well, and everything was great until she babysat one night.
Donna put the little girl to bed and was watching TV in the living room for about an hour when the little girl came back downstairs and said someone was watching her in her room.
They were standing in the doorway, and she could only make out the eyes.
She asked Donna to go upstairs with her and stay until she fell asleep. So, they climbed into bed together, and they both started to doze off. Suddenly, Donna saw something or someone run past the doorway.
“Now, since she was dozing off, she felt sleepy,” said Bella. “She wasn’t sure if what she saw was in her head or not, so she did a double take, didn’t see anything, and shook it off.”
“But now, she’s on alert because she’s remembering, like, she’s aware of what this little girl just told her.”

Before she could settle back into bed, she saw something run past the door again, this time in the opposite direction. She decided to get up and check it out.
When she reached the doorway, she peeked out into the hallway. Standing at the end of the hallway was a dark figure.
In the comments section, several TikTok users shared their reactions. They claimed that they wouldn’t have been nearly as brave as Donna, and some even described their own experiences with children reporting similar figures in the dark. Maybe kids are just more sensitive to things that adults tend to miss.
“Donna’s brave. I would’ve taken the girl and left until the parents came back,” commented one user.
“If I did let my child babysit, it would only be at our home so I could facilitate. Our home is blessed and good,” stated another.
“My son used to see dark figures in the doorway. I believed him right away because why are you six wanting to sleep in the dark with your door closed?” chimed in a third.
