Dating in New York City has a reputation for being chaotic. After going on a horrendous first date in NYC, TikToker Anna Manocha (@anna.manocha) had to have one of her friends call her with a fake emergency so that she could make an escape.
So, she met up with a guy at a bar, and within the first five minutes of the date, she knew she wasn’t going to see him again. The chemistry wasn’t there.
He looked exactly like his pictures, so there was technically no catfishing involved, but he was hunched over and spoke very slowly.
“It was just not a vibe, you know, like we were just not getting along, and I could tell that he really liked me, which I thought was surprising because I was giving him nothing,” said Anna.
About 20 minutes into the date, he asked her to share her worst date story. She wanted to say that this current date was the worst date she’s ever been on, but that didn’t seem socially appropriate, so instead, she stalled for time by saying that she would have to think about it. In the meantime, he told her about his.
He volunteered to share the story, but seemed super hesitant about telling it. Apparently, he had gone out for drinks with a girl, and then they went to a photo booth at a hotel.
Afterward, they went back to his place, and that was when things took a nosedive. It had been their ninth or tenth date at that point.
One thing led to another, and they started hooking up. However, he got some of his own bodily fluid in his eye, and it really burned. His eye was bright red, so he got up to wash it out. The girl tried to comfort him, but he asked her to leave.
Later, she texted him to let him know how disrespectful it was for him to rush her out of his place. Then, they broke up. And that was the story he chose to tell on a first date.

Anna excused herself to the bathroom. She stood there in stunned silence, trying to process what she had just heard. In the bathroom, she texted everyone she knew, telling them to call her with a fake emergency.
Of course, her mom didn’t answer, so she left a voicemail about how bad the dating pool is in NYC.
The guy later texted Anna to say that he had a great time and wanted to see her again. Anna politely declined and told him that it wasn’t a good fit. She wished him luck on his dating journey. It was probably the best ending possible for everyone involved.
